지난 주말 도널드 트럼프는 분노에 찬 발언을 하던 중 연준(Fed)이 연방기금금리를 1.0%로 설정해야 한다고 말했다. 연방기금금리는 연준이 즉각적으로 통제할 수 있는 단기 금리다. 연준이 다음 주 회의에서 금리를 인하할 가능성은 있지만, 가장 유력한 조치는 0.25%p 인하해 3.5%에서 3.75% 범위로 낮추는 것이다. 노동시장이 약세인 점을 고려하면, 현재 인플레이션율이 연준의 2.0% 목표보다 약 1%p 높은 상황임에도 이런 금리 인하는 타당하다.

As a theoretical chemist I don't find "Schrödinger's cat" jokes funny.

First even Schrödinger regretted to have made this metaphor.

Second I have heard every possible version of the joke. Yes, also the impossible ones.

Third and most important, I'm reminded of this man who probably was one of the most terrible people in the history of modern science. And that's an achievement.

My favourite things about @gnome are:

  • It stays out of my way.
  • Doesn't overwhelm me with a myriad of configuration knobs.
  • Doesn't get upset when I only use part of the platform (in my case, niri + mostly GNOME apps, but no GNOME Shell).
  • The few times I interacted with GNOME developers, they were very helpful.
  • I've been a GNOME user since the dawn of time. I experimented with WMs other than whatever was GNOME's default at the time, but as far as applications go, most I use were GNOME ever since I first started up X11. We seem to have evolved together, and GNOME's nicely following my taste (or shaping mine).
