“If everyone who streamed All Hell on Spotify had done so using Tidal instead, we would have received an extra £31,847.38, which would double the amount we made from streaming of the album in this time period. Or if everyone used Apple Music it would have been £12,331 more.”

Los Campesinos! break down streaming royalties. In other news, Fuck Spotify.

There were two especially bizarre claims in the Techrights case:

1) I had conspired with someone else to launch an associated claim (by which he means someone else who felt Roy had defamed him asked me who my solicitors were and I told them) and the two cases should be merged
2) My legal fees were being paid by someone else (heavily implied to be either Microsoft or someone associated with Microsoft), which would have been nice if true because I'd be able to afford a very nice time off work now

The last month of my life: BreakingTTAPs

This is a custom transport-triggered, 32 bit processor that will be fabricated by GlobalFoundries on their 180nm process (via of wafer.space)

I'll make a video at some point, but some high level details here.

- Transport-triggered architecture
- ~20Mhz
- Two 32 bit data buses (i.e. two instructions per cycle)
- 1024 double slot instruction memory
- 256 word stack
- 4kb of general RAM
- 80 or so various instruction types
- 16 GPIO, SPI, UART, 8 bit parallel memory loader interface

Clock speed is sorta up in the air. Still optimizing, but simulations say it should hit ~20MHz in all "process corners" (i.e. if the fab makes slow transistors and the chip is 125C hot). Probably faster in nominal case but we'll see

Instruction set is pretty standard set of ALU, LSU, comparisons, branching, bit manip, etc. But I snuck in a few fun extras like a pseudorandom number generator, tanh and multiply-and-accumulate to try some light ML inference (rough plan is reservoir computing)

Chip was written in Spade HDL (spade-lang.org), which transpiles down to SystemVerilog. That's then fed into a LibreLane build process that turns the verilog into transistors. All open source!

Few tweaks left before the final deadline. Then it's off to the fab and we'll see if it works in three months!

Really hope there isn't a bug in the memory loader, otherwise it'll be DOA and not much to do about it. But even so, was a great learning experience!

In order for something to ever be a real solution it has to be a situated solution. Solutions in the abstract are just fictions. And I love fiction and theory but only as a thing that guides us toward trying the highest leverage thing for our particular situation.

I think if all we have to offer a struggling junior career person is "bosses are terrible," we are offering them a world in which they can never be ok because they need to have a job. And we know they need to have a job, and it's self-indulgent for us to screech at them about capitalism when we could be sharing tactics.

So offer, "here is one thing that helps manage a terrible boss," at least

I have been working on a question all year which can basically be boiled down to: "what rehumanizes?"

For me, the context is tech, but of course, tech needs to learn from everywhere else in order to see its own deficits.

Taking as a given that we are all existing in broken, cumulatively damaging cultures, I really want to move beyond sitting in that grief and move toward us being able to notice and recognize and ultimately protect repair

Often, people respond very negatively toward any comment about individual psychology because it does not solve the problems at the structural level

I recognize this, but at the same time, I think something is lost when we attack every mention of individual psychology

There's a big divergence between what we talk about when I meet with people 1:1 versus what's talked about on social media here and I don't like that divergence

still like the lighting system i came up with for midboss. it just draws all the tiles again (at a lower resolution) filled with the light color for that tile instead of the normal pixels, and then it blurs the shit out of it and that becomes the lighting

so simple but highly effective

midboss screenshot of a shrine. the shrine is illuminated by the player's line of sight, but it creeps through a door just below the player, then stops

Remboursement des fauteuils roulants : promesse tenue

politis.fr/articles/2025/12/re

Albarracín is one of the most beautiful medieval towns in Teruel, Aragón (Spain), famous for its pink sandstone houses, steep narrow streets, and impressive city walls. Highlights include the castle, the cathedral, and great viewpoints over the Guadalaviar River. It’s also surrounded by beautiful nature like the Pinares de Rodeno. Wandering its narrow alleys, climbing up to the walls, and seeing the whole town from above was incredible.

Okay, I'm going to put this to the Fedi hive mind - does printer friendly needlepoint canvass exist?

I know about the various ways you can transfer a printed image from paper, but they're all too laborious to do in bulk, and I'd like something we can make ourselves.
