"AI가 거대 문장 학습을 통해 다음에 나올 문장을 예측한다면, 인류의 역사와 문화, 사상, 종교 이 모든 것을 학습시켜서 인류의 미래를 예측할 수 있지 않을까요?"
시작은 간단한 질문이었다. 논리적으로 말이 안되는 말이었지만, AI붐에 빠진 인류에게는 그럴싸해 들리는 말이었다.
그리고 그 말이 그럴싸하게 들리자 인류는 서로 앞다투어 인류의 미래를 예측하기 위해 AI를 학습시켰다. 기업을 넘어 국가간의 경쟁이 시작되었고, 이 경쟁은 적대국가가 자신들의 미래를 예측하는 걸 넘어 결정지을지도 모른다는 공포에 점점 거대해져, 결국 새로운 냉전이 되었다.
그 냉전은 포탄, 탱크, 드론, 핵무기가 아닌 GPU, 서버, AI를 위한 데이터의 힘으로 유지되었다. 그렇게 세계가 양분되었고, 양분된 세계는 거대한 데이터 센터로 매워졌다. 모든 곳에서 연산장치가 돌아가는 소리가 들렸고, 열기가 가득했다.
신냉전은 이름과 다르게 무척이나 뜨거웠다.
