TL;DR: Mozilla’s translation bot on Support Mozilla (that is currently overwriting user contributions is based on the closed source, copyright infringing LLM, Google Gemini. This is in spite of Mozilla claiming that they are at the forefront of open source AI, and belies their exhortations to choose to build open source AI and data sets. Although Mozilla has experience in attracting open contributions for data sets in projects like Common Voice, Mozilla is using a closed data set to overwrite open contributions. Since (paid) Gemini queries do not train the model, Mozillians can expect to correct errors every time the bot automatically updates an article.

Guess I buried the lede on this Oct 10 story, which broke the news about a record 29+ Tbps DDoS from the Aisuru IoT botnet.

To my mind, the real news is that we're way past 30 Tbps capability with this botnet, and we're safely moving into a territory (terrortory?) where only Cloudflare can handle these attacks. This is problematic on a multitude of levels, and it's probably worth restating that much of the DDoS for hire industry still hides behind CF. And apparently 68 percent of phishing sites, if these stats are credible.

Earlier this year, LWN.net featured an excellent article named "Linux's missing CRL infrastructure", and today I'm pleased to announce our plans to address that with a utility named 'upki'.

Canonical will be working with Dirkjan Ochtmann and Joe Birr-Pixton over the coming weeks to start bridging the PKI infrastructure gap - first for , but later for the wider Linux audience.

Don't get me wrong, I feel bizarrely privileged that so many people follow me (for some reason?!?) on my main account, and I totally believe in following folks back, as long as their feed is at least marginally interesting, and I do like having so many toots to look through on my main account.

It's not finished yet, but I wanted to show it very much. I guess racing game in ? Not exactly racing, but anyway, cars.

You will also need to pick up gasoline, which will constantly run out

(and I know it does not fit but some of my rough wip music stuff playing in background. Well let's say the driver has very high stakes, so it's a very dramatic moment)
