edited to add: thanks for all the suggestions. I knew this would be the right crowd. (^_^) it seems like my nextcloud might be the lowest friction option, so I'm giving that a try first. so far I'm liking how easy it has been to just upload my music and it just shows up, and I like that there are multiple subsonic apps I can try. and I didn't have to do anything extra to be able to stream from anywhere (except read the actual help file, of course, it's not just your nextcloud's regular url that you want to point your app to, but once I realized that, it was dead simple). job well done everybody, another victory for self-hosting~

original post: alright, Linux havers, what are we using to wrangle our music libraries these days? I've got a fairly large collection (~85 gb) almost entirely mp3s, and I need the capability of syncing to my phone. I use Ubuntu and android. I do have a nextcloud self-hosting setup, do any of you use that? is it good? a lot of these google responses are kinda old.

好像外国人普遍启蒙Linux是Linux Mint，中国人的启蒙Linux好像却大多数是Ubuntu，在V2上，有人问Linux使用帖子，Ubuntu和Debian各自占据半壁江山，有人用Alpine还被嘲讽没有systemd残废了233，然后被嘲讽的就开始嘲讽systemd是垃圾2333，可见Arch，Gentoo，Alpine等等原教旨注意玩家还是少。

是因为Ubuntu i18n做的比Mint好，Snap商店可以一键安装，软件兼容性更高，更符合中国人的软件使用习惯，商业化程度高，好像有很多公司的默认Linux是Ubuntu吗？还有Linux桌面、安装引导，Ubuntu应该算是做的比较人性化的

查了下相关资料，还有其他原因：
1. 2013年，Canonical（Ubuntu 母公司）与中国工信部（MIIT）达成协议，共同打造了 Ubuntu Kylin 作为中国操作系统的参考架构；
2. Ubuntu 官方投入了大量资源与搜狗（Sogou）、金山（WPS）合作。在很长一段时间里，搜狗输入法、WPS Office 的 Linux 版首发和适配最好的都是 Ubuntu；
3. Ubuntu本身开源，但是其母公司Canonical 的商业色彩浓厚，更倾向于通过 Snap 商店（闭源后端）来统一分发闭源软件（如微信、钉钉的 Linux 版封装）；
4. 种种原因，Ubuntu成为“默认”Linux，教程庞大挤压其他Linux教程生态，导致小白入门大概率只能选Ubuntu。

还有现在大学教学Linux一般都是Ubuntu和CentOS，网安专业会让你顺便安装Kali Linux，但是个人觉得apt系列就选Debian，Redhat系就选Rocky Linux吧。
还有刚刚开始用Debian的时候，我读作“低半”，后来看了些Youtube视频才改口成“呆扁”。

@T_X @axxαxel simon ↙︎↙︎↙︎ I made the switch to #NAT64-only on the default network of #FOSDEM 13(?) years ago. It broke So. Much. Stuff.

I knew the former maintainer of the network tooling from the Linux Kernel Summit, and ran into him by chance that year. #Ubuntu was completely broken on NAT64-only, it did not even bring up the network interfaces, and we sent people who came to the NOC to their booth.

I also sent that former maintainer over there.

They fixed things very quickly.

Today I published an update on the #Canonical supported #upki project, which brings browser-grade Public Key Infrastructure to Linux through the efficient #CRLite data format, with the core revocation engine now functional and available to test!

Beyond current progress, this post explores broader integration, performance, and future capabilities like Certificate Transparency enforcement and Merkle Tree.

This is all part of the effort to increase the resilience of #Ubuntu machines by default, but I hope it has a wider benefit on the Linux ecosystem going forward!
