닷넷은 8.0이후로 Microsoft만이 아니라, Canonical, RedHat 등 각 리눅스 배포판 관리자들이 Microsoft를 대신하여 본인들의 배포판 OS에서 잘 작동할 수 있도록 검증 과정을 거쳐 독자적으로 빌드하여 패키징을 하고 있습니다.

그 덕분에 매우 유의미한 발전이 하나 있었는데, IBM 메인프레임 (s390x)과 IBM PowerPC (ppc64el)에서도 우분투 리눅스를 사용하면 이제 닷넷 10을 아주 손쉽게 apt install dotnet-sdk-10.0 명령어 하나로 바로 설치해서 쓸 수 있게 됩니다.

지속적으로 주요 OS 별 .NET 10 패키지 채택 현황 (수시 업데이트 예정) 페이지를 업데이트하고 있는 중입니다. 그리고 Canonical에서 예고한대로, s390x와 ppc64el 아키텍처용 .NET 10 Runtime, SDK 패키지를 정식으로 제공하고 있습니다. 덕분에 IBM 메인프레임 (s390x), IBM PowerPC (ppc64el) 용 우분투 리눅스에서 닷넷 10 SDK까지 모두 사용할 수 있게 되었습니다. 현재 Questing Quokka (25.10)부터 배포를 진행 중인데, 최신 LTS인 24.04 버전으로도 순차적으로 배포가 이루어질 예정입니다.

What's the common wisdom regarding and systemd-resolved, dnsmasq, and NetworkManager?

Had a weird thing happen where a tunnel didn't go up but DNS was still trying to connect to the DNS server over the WireGuard tunnel and was failing.

Is there any way to stop the DNS madness? It looks like they're both clobbering each other.

As I'm getting more and more into desktop , I seem to be liking the most. However, I'm trying to shy away from Ubuntu for the reasons of snap, though I'm not experienced enough to know whether snap is "just fine" for me or I should avoid it.

The other toggle point is the use of the dock. I like the persistent dock, but trying to get used to vanilla Fedora Workstation at the moment, sans dock.

My plans for the week:

▪️​ install #DietPi on my old #RaspberryPi3 (https://dietpi.com)
▪️​ flash the #YunoHost pre-installed disk image to a new MicroSD card and attempt to set it up on on my #RaspberryPi5
▪️​ if I'm successful, I'll set up #Jellyfin on it
▪️​ create a little storage system for my microSD cards so I can swap them in and out (I won't wipe the one that has #Ubuntu on it, but set it aside so I can use it in the future)

I have a hunch I will ask 🎅​ for a new Raspi this coming Christmas... maybe the #RaspberryPi500 😅​

오늘부터 토요일 까지 온라인으로 하는 Ubuntu Summit 25.10 스트림 잘 시청 중이신가요? 오늘 첫날 세션 중 흥미로운 것 하나 소개가 되어 공유 드립니다. 바로 세션을 통해 출시가 발표된 Inference Snap 입니다. 정확히는 silicon-optimized inference snap 이 되겠는데요. 생성형 AI 모델을 그냥 단순히 쉽게 설치 할 수 있도록 할 뿐만 아니라, 설치할 하드웨어에 최적화된 구성을 자동으로 선택해서 생성형 AI 모델을 설치하고 바로 사용할 수 있도록 해 줍니다. 이번에 퍼블릭 베타로 공개 된 것은 Qwen VL, DeepSeek R1 이라고 하네요. 아래 명령어로 바로 설치해 볼 수 있다고 합니다. 우분투 22.04 설치입니다. hdmi 연결에 그래픽 gtx4060 탑재된 PC라 모니터 검정문제 이슈를 찾게되어 설치메뉴에서 수정하기 nomodeset 추가로 설치화면까지는됩니다. 여기서 문제가 발생하는데 해상도가 640 480 입니다. 고정입니다. 아마 최신 그래픽카드에 대한 드라이버를 지원하지 않아서 그런것 같습니다. 초기 인터페이스를 English로 두면 그나마 뒤로가기 다음 취소 등의 버튼이 보이지만 인터페이스를 한국어로 하게되면 공간이 모자라 뒤로가기 다음 취소등의 메뉴가 보이지 않습니다. 한국어로 해서 대중 어림잡아 탭키로 어거지로 하였습니다만, (물로 영문으로 진행하고 설치후 인터페이스 바꾸는 것은 어려운 일이 아닙니다.) 해상도가 조금만 더 높아도 해결될 듯한데 여러 방법해보아도 되지않네요. try ubuntu 로 해서 바탕 진입후 변경하고 설치진행 해보려, 터미널에서 xrandr 로 newmode 1920x1080@60~~HDMI-1 ~~...

Introduction

Redoing my as it was a bit of a sparse one when I joined.

I am a lifelong enthusiast, having worked in Financial Services IT for more than 25 years, across multiple disciplines including:
* -based platforms (A17/A19/HMP NX 6800/Libra 180/Libra 6xx/Libra 890)
* storage arrays (DMX 3/4 and most recently VMAX) including experience of (S), SRDF(A), BCV
* (2000 through 2019) including
* Various / OSes (/ / / / ) including experience of /#GFS2 SAN storage clustering
* Virtual Tape Server technology (B&L/Crossroads/ETI Net SPHiNX, )
* Automation/Scripting (, , , , )

* /#DisasterRecovery (Design/Implementation/Operations)

I’m focused on learning and getting hands-on with at home and computing solutions both at work and at home.

I moved into a role in 2020, so a lot of my focus is now more security focussed across all tech stacks.

My main focus at present when it comes to cloud is predominately , with Google and AWS of interest also, as well as other cloud infrastructure services such as those provided by CloudFlare, though I’m planning a move away from them due to their moral/ethical choices.

Away from work and tech, I love to the world with my wife and enjoy very amateur to record our adventures.

I also love most genres of , live in concert when I can, with a particular love of / and also (coincidentally, given the profession of a somewhat more well known namesake of mine!).

question: my limitation to ditch windows entirely is that I need to be able to do writing , i. e. texts with footnotes and with access to my library database. have been using for decades and have an extensive library database built up. so far I have been unable to run Notabene on Linux. tried exporting the library database to once and that was a mess. any thoughts appreciated...
