今天妹妹問我要不要猜猜看今年日本新生兒的熱門名稱排名，所以突發奇想問了 GPT 怎麼沒有人覺得把小孩取名「あきら」時跟「諦める（放棄）」的漢字讀音一樣不吉利呢？結果他列出很多理由給我，像是同樣讀音的漢字很多都很吉利之類，另外也告訴我「諦める」的語源並沒有不吉利。好奇的查了一下發現是真的耶！說明裡提到這個詞來自古早佛教的用語，像是「諦観」表示看透事物的本質，因此「諦める」的原意其實是「看清自己的期望無法實現的原因後全然接受並放下執著」的意思，並不只是現代解釋的「放棄」而已。讀完完全感覺這個詞超正面無誤耶！有問這個蠢問題真是太好了～

Rust ownership은 뭘 포인터 없이 해결하려는지는 알겠는데, 굳이 이렇게 해야 하나? 싶긴 함. 제한 많이 붙인 자동 free 포인터에, implicit가 너무 많은 C++에서 그 동작들을 명확하게 언어 스펙으로 만들었다는 느낌. 어차피 너무? 멀리 가버린? C++ 대신 쓰기엔 나쁘지는 않은데, C 대체일지는 모르겠다. 왠지 rust 도입에 부정적인 리눅스 커널 아재들 맘을 알 거 같아. 🤣

in my experience claude’s “research” mode isn’t particularly helpful. i found its reports consistently less useful than normal conversations. haven’t tried comparing to claude code with intermediate artifacts yet. does this track? has anyone had much better experience with research mode?
