I'm exploring what alternatives exist. I have something neat to share.

See the little checkmark on this repo?

codeberg.org/louwers/duckdb-bu

The of this repository is running on . Bridged with yojo yojo.emersion.fr/

I think each platform has its advantages, but definitely CI is a strong aspect of SourceHut and a weak point of Codeberg / . Both projects are based in the and are open source.

What is your experience with alternatives?

Yes, totally. The thing is, it is all unclear. But it might have been designed from the very start to take more of these concerns into consideration. This is an area of interest and focus for me, in my participation at coding.social where I elaborate on a universal soluton development methodology called Social experience design. The mission is to reimagine social, and envision a peopleverse.

And then evolve from there on a path towards realization of that dream. 😊

Ae. The problem is a whole lot of grafting privacy features onto a system designed for the broadcast of public messages. Then evangelists promoting that system as a privacy solution, meaning that it doesn't DataFarm network members.

Then that creating an assumption that it's a system designed for private messaging. Which is never was and still isn't the best solution for.

I’m using Immich to manage large photo collections from community events (face detection, duplicate removal, smart search) and it’s great 📸

What I’m missing is automatic photo culling / best-shot selection: choosing the best photo among similar ones (group shots, event sessions, same subject). 🧞‍♂️

Any experience with open-source, Python-based solutions for this? or projects to recommend? 🐍

Three bugs appear.

“Ah, with my senior software developer senses I detect these are in fact not three separate bugs, but a single bug manifesting in different ways. A greener developer would have fallen into this trap and spent all day chasing shadows!”

*7 hours of struggling*

They are three separate bugs.

A few months ago the theory was that Trump would rig the 2026 elections with maps that make it impossible for Democrats to win the House. Now, after Indiana rejected redistricting, they actually stand to *lose* seats. And Trump's rash pardon of Henry Cuellar probably blows one more. Amazing.

Indiana Republicans Reject Tru...

One of my favourite Mastodon things is you have people with account names like CapitalismMustFall@SmashThe.System posting about gardening and baking biscuits and people with names like ANiceCupOfTea@Friendly.Cafe cutting the power lines to arms factories

I'm looking for self-hosted, open source, ideally copyleft-licensed small team task/project management software.

It's sadly fairly challenging to find tools not infested by GenAI.

Contenders so far:
Worklenz
Plane.so (this is why I was asking about the Copilot commits, they have some, but no history shown) DOES seem to have GenAI for their cloud product, trying to see if it's excluded from their self-hosted version.
