The Byron storm swept across the Gaza Strip, causing heavy human and material losses. At least 14 Palestinians, including two children who froze to death, were killed, and at least 14 others were injured as strong winds, relentless rain, and collapsing structures destroyed tents of displaced families and partially damaged homes, already weakened by Israel’s devastating war on the enclave.

Goodbye Linux & Podman, hello FreeBSD & Jails! :freebsd_logo:

Just migrated my blog (blog.hofstede.it) to a fully native BSD stack (where my Gemini Capsule was already living).

Stack (using Bastille VNET Jails):
- Caddy (Ingress, TLS, Reverse-Proxy)
- Nginx Jail (Internal. Static file serving)
- PF

The Cool Part: A Zero-Trust CI/CD pipeline.

My Forgejo runner deploys via restricted rrsync into an air-gapped "transporter" jail, which nullfs mounts the web root.

Security: Source-IP restricted, no interactive shells, no PTY.

The simplicity of files-on-disk beats container abstraction every time.

When it comes to cooking, my spouse is a bit of a germophobe and tends to prefer a plastic cutting board that can be cleaned in the dishwasher. I am more of a microplasticphobe and thus prefer wooden cutting boards that I clean with hot water, soap, and a brush.

Whose phobia is more in line with the current state of science?

Edit: Thanks everyone, I got plenty of helpful replies! See thread below for a very insightful link.
