What is Hackers' Pub?

Hackers' Pub is a place for software engineers to share their knowledge and experience with each other. It's also an ActivityPub-enabled social network, so you can follow your favorite hackers in the fediverse and get their latest posts in your feed.

It really has been a bittersweet year, and I have worked hard on myself to become a better developer, leader and person.

Words only mean so much, it’s action that matters. While some doubted me and my intentions, I became more focused on building than ever.

Loops belongs to the people, and is now fully open source.

I appreciate all the people that stuck with me and never lost hope or respect.

You deserve better FOSS leaders, and I’m eager to continue being a positive force in the fedi!

❤️

(続) x.com/i/status/199971196718825

I’m pretty proud of fediverse.info and fedidb.com

I believe it’s crucial that we build better on-boarding and marketing resources for the fediverse, and I look forward to improving these next year after I catch up with @PixelFed , @loops and @supappsup

If you haven’t noticed, we’re playing the long game, building real alternatives that can’t be acquired or controlled by anyone or any entity.

All roads lead back to the fedi 🥰

If you get some electronics from a dude in a sketchy Amsterdam cafe, you might want to inspect it before trusting it- luckily he made that easy to do! Here are some IRIS-style backside IR photos of the Baochip by @bunnie

I used a 60degree, 1064nm power LED from Aliexpress as a light source, and imaged it using an RPi HQ camera with the IR filter removed mounted to our stereo inspection microscope.

Day 13 of Advent of Compiler Optimisations!

You're calling a function inside a loop, but its result never changes between iterations. Does the compiler spot this and hoist it out? Turns out the answer depends on which compiler you use! Clang pulls off the optimisation beautifully, but gcc stumbles—even with explicit hints. What's going on?
