LLMs are good at coding. They can code faster than human. But they don't have ability to maintain their shit. Don't worry developers, there will be tons of shit codes we need to clean up in future. Surely we won't loose our job. Actually there will be more works than ever.

Thursday, the EU launched a European Digital Infrastructure Consortium for Digital Commons. During this launch, EU & national authorities were *crystal clear* on how large our digital autonomy challenges are in the Trump era. Last Thursday, 11th of December, saw the launch of the new Digital Commons European Digital Infrastructure Consortium. In attendance were delegations from the launching member states (and the observers). Also present were the many forefathers (and mothers) of this initiative. Of particular note, the launch also included demonstrations of LaSuite software from France, as well as the OpenDesk software from Germany. The Dutch government showcased their amalgamated suite MijnBureau, which joins parts of the German and French initiatives.

Stephen Kotkin 教授說，「西方」不是一個地理概念，它是一個制度包裹，包含憲政民主、法治、自由、人權。所以俄羅斯有一半在歐洲，但並不屬於「西方」，而日本在亞洲，卻是「西方」陣營。

所以如果你實施憲政民主，崇尚法治，重視自由人權，你自然會是「西方」的一部分。

然而台灣有一群人跟西方是格格不入的，這群人眼睛望著極權中國，對憲政民主、法治毫無概念，隨手破壞也不覺得有什麼問題，而這些人還有相當數量的選民支持，對他們破壞法治的惡行也不覺得有什麼問題。所以我覺得台灣其實還不完全是「西方」，台灣選民整體好像還沒有做出最終的決定。

On old Twitter, there used to be a pretty vocal and thriving community of academics in various disciplines, as well as people who were learning from them and current grad students when it comes to applying for grad school & prep programs.

Things seem more silent here (with the exception of EECS and physics, perhaps).

Whale songs were first noticed by accident, when analysts tracking Russian submarines at the height of the cold war heard cetacean interference instead. An engineer sent some recordings to Roger Payne, a biologist friend of his, who did something that proved pivotal: he played the hours-long recordings on his hi-fi at home, while he went about his day. By listening for hours at a time, Payne noticed that these vocalizations weren’t simple chirps, but complex structured social patterns — songs, even.
