I was lucky enough to get the #Plushtodon from @Mastodon for my birthday today.

As of yesterday I completed my journey and am now using Linux as my main OS, keeping my old W11 install dual booted and pinching my nose, eyes and ears. @amadeusAmadeus Paulussen posted an interview about our company's Linux journey as well https://linuxaudio.dev/linux-audio-developers-spotlight/plogue

Following yesterday's installment of lightweight web-browsing with lynx(1), today in #FreeSoftwareAdvent it's the @dilloDillo browser project.

It's pretty much everything I want from a non-JavaScript enabled browser.

It's fast. It's lightweight. It runs across all the architectures I use (I can't run FF or Chromium on my macppc or i386 hardware any more due, I believe, to JIT requirements). It's customizable (I have my own preferred CSS stylesheet that tends to make everything more readable rather than the hit-or-miss partial CSS support that can cause some sites to be unreadable).

I've shared the anecdote many times before, but reading the Inconsolation blog¹ a number of years ago, I used dillo and literally had over 100 tabs open, yet top(1) reported Dillo using less than 100MB of RAM. Meanwhile, opening a single blank home-page in FF or Chromium doing absolutely nothing consumed more RAM than that. 🤯

So today I'm spreading some Dillo love 🥰

Hello everyone!

As we do every year, we're taking some time off for the holidays.

This year, the #GoToSocial maintainer holiday period will last from December 19th up to and including January 4th, so we'll be back in action on January 5th.

What this means:

• We will make our matrix chat (general, help, and code channels) read-only.
• We will disable our issue tracker on Codeberg so that we don't have to worry about tracking + triaging issues.¹
• We may do little bits of work if we feel like it, but we won't be reviewing any pull requests from others.²
• We will be absolutely chilling our tits off and doing fun stuff with friends, family, lovers, and whatnot.

We're looking forward to recharging our batteries over the holidays, and coming back in January ready to kick some ass!

事主為英國歷史學家 Andrew McConnell。他於本月11日在 Instagram 分享片段，指自己在菲律賓海邊散步時，偶然遇上一隻外型特別的小章魚，並形容那一刻是「近距離接觸世上最致命生物」。片段中可見，McConnell 將章魚放在手掌中觀察，當章魚試圖逃走時，他更數次伸手將其捉回，似乎未意識到潛在危險。

有海洋生物專家指出，藍環章魚體內含有極高濃度的河豚毒素，其毒性被指較氰化物高出約1,000倍，足以在短時間內致命，理論上可殺死20多名成年人，而目前全球仍未有任何有效的解毒血清。一旦被咬，傷口往往不痛不癢，卻可能迅速導致呼吸衰竭，風險極高。
