What is Hackers' Pub?

I hope that the Pixelfed community understands why I've been so focused on Loops and that I will be focusing on Pixelfed once the Loops app is shipped to the App Store.

Loops is perfectly positioned with the TikTok turmoil and Oracle sale, to bring thousands and potentially millions of new people to the fediverse.

I know it feels like I abandoned Pixelfed, but I spent the past 7 years working on it almost daily, please understand that I do deserve a break

And my break is building Loops, 4 u 🚀

My controversial take:

Linux desktops peaked with KDE 3.5.x. (Gnome is a ghastly abomination and KDE's been going downhill ever since.)

macOS desktops peaked with Snow Leopard (10.6). Everything since then has gone downhill in UX. (Honourable exception: filesystems and backup support. But those are below the desktop level ...)

Windows never had a peak to fall off and has been subterranean for decades. Put it out of its misery and start over from IBM's mid-80s CUI spec.

hmm https://youtu.be/QDoasQC2IJM my unanswered question is why the submerged part of the tower rotates in the water: wouldn’t that have bad losses from viscosity? my guess would be that it’s better to enclose the rotating shaft, that friction in bearings would be lower… tho maybe they need less steel if they don’t have separate shaft and hull, and that’s enough to offset the need for more turbines?
