It’s been a long time since I last saw the hare couple in my local park.
Yesterday I even thought to myself that they might have moved on. Would be totally understandable since there are way too many dogs there.

But today I saw them both again inside some thick bushes. I tried to be mindful and not disturb them but somehow they always look worried.

I've been feeling a bit under the weather the past couple of days, so I hit a pause on my reading and I watched #Murderbot on Apple TV.

I have to say I enjoyed the show more than I expected, especially given that I didn’t really like the books (OK, I read only the first one) and the reviews for the show were mixed at best.

...and I like your heuristic too. it's more reliable but it requires more data - a lot more! - and may not be feasible in practice for most

I like having the shape of things memorized. I like being fluent in the codebases I work on. human memorization works via repeated exposure. it's fine to automate certain things (so long as the automation tool is deterministic) but do it with the awareness that you'll lose the opportunity to become good and knowledgable about something through your menial interactions with it

Man pages are divided into section depending on topic. There are 9 different
sections numbered from 1 (General Commands) to 9 (Kernel Developer's Manual).
You can get an introduction to each topic by typing

Also, interesting to see that in his first point about "normalising AI", he's pretty explicit about people inside his organisation not wanting to use it, and "normalisation" here means pushing the internal adoption of an unwanted tool, top down. Quite remarkable. Thanks for the link!

I understand (yet don't agree) on the social media ban for children some countries have implemented and others are discussing.

However, if we look at the state of some societies right now, I don't think it's just kids who need to stay away from platforms like Facebook, X and TikTok.

Of course, the real problem is not "social media" but rather the companies who run these corporate controlled, rage bait algorithm fueled money makers.

I'm seeing more and more web devs vibe coding apps for personal use. Or at least using LLMs to help quickly build something that only they and their family members will use.

This is interesting for https://Dropserver.org, which should be ideal for hosting such apps. The apps run in a sandbox so a fumble on the LLM's part is not going to be a big problem. It has user management built in, so you can spare the LLM from building that for you. And backups, restores, moving the hosted app around is designed to be snagless.

I try to remember I’m lucky. I work for a true mission-driven company. A non-profit, but big enough to not deal with the non-profit problems largely. I’m compensated well. I don’t feel like I’m contributing evil to the world. I feel like I am helping to make people’s lives better, even if it’s still stuck in a capitalist framing.

And I remind myself how rare that is.

When I think of rage quitting over some annoying thing, I remember how rare that combination is in this toxic timeline.
