So, according to wiki, I am not the only one, who interprets plot as an allegory for takeover (myself being pretty - not really to the full extent shown by the Patagonia guy in episode 7, but I was actually pretty psychotic about AI few years earlier, when I was overthinking where it is all going...)

But there is much more hidden in the story. Is definitely not just another everyday science fiction series: it can be, if you don't seek more, but there are many subtle footnotes (most of which I probably missed out anyway).

I really like the approaches that the Leadership Council in are researching and possibly implementing in a semi-near future.

Seeing them explore ideas about awards for past work, fellowships for future work, collaborations with external platforms such as GSoC or OSC and a possible Rust Maintainer Fund AND a Rust Crate Maintainer Fund really sends hope through our doom&pessimism-adapted brains

The Second-Order Streisand Effect is a social phenomenon where if a party makes an effort to censor information, discussion and news about the censoring attempt paradoxically leads to an increased awareness of Barbra Streisand, a musician whom most Zoomers would probably have never heard of if not for the Streisand Effect

Youtuber real crime segues are something else.

"He chopped up her body and put it in the trunk of his car because the voices told him to do it. And if you are hearing voices you should contact our sponsor BetterHelp.”

"[...] stupidly, we have also settled on phone numbers as a means of authentication"

I've never understood why WhatsApp decided to rely on phone numbers for auth (or, not even that long ago, a phone to do anything at all).

@range_martenMårten Rånge Jag har en liten utmaning till dig om du orkar/vill: Ett litet ramverk för att skapa en shader i terminalen. Jag skulle vilja se vad du kan göra för något coolt (allt du behöver röra är "Shader.cs")!

@catsalad@infosec.exchangeCat 🐈🥗 (D.Burch) :blobcatrainbow: ... I give you a hint at what I currently contemplate:
Next year I'll have affairs where I am the emotion lacking lust partner without guilt or shame.
Next year I'll switch diet to Scotch desserts.
Next year I'll wear catty ear phones in the office and make it a default standard.
Next year I'll be even more bossy but without nice intentions.
Next year I'll make it a habit to stop working any time I'm hungry. Full stop!
Next year I'll finish my most recent erotic fantasy novel and make it ever more lewd and nasty than the current script!

Feel free to pick any or all of those if you like them!

I have been using Codex extensively to fix crashes. Usually when I get an obscure crash I go “well there goes my afternoon”. These days, I paste the stack trace into codex and go “fix this”, and it does a remarkable job at finding clues I miss, and to find the root causes.

It doesn’t always work, but it has a very solid hit rate. What seemed like a daunting uphill mountain of despair is now a quick sweeping job.
