I write technical articles on my blog.
AIs show up in large numbers to read them, crawl them, learn from them.
Time passes. I publish a new post.

And right on schedule, someone comments:
"This was clearly written by an AI".

Which is fascinating, really.

I write.
Machines read.
I keep writing.
Then humans accuse me of being the machine.

At this point I am not sure if the problem is that AI sounds too human,
or that humans have forgotten what a human who actually studies sounds like.

Either way, I will keep writing.
Worst case scenario, the AIs will enjoy it.
Best case scenario, one day a human will too.

Jay Kuo looks at the New York Times interview with Marjorie Taylor Greene and focuses on two points where the interview buried the lede. The two points are the two I highlighted yesterday when I posted here about that NYT article:

"The first shows how far Trump was willing to go to prevent the files’ release. And the second describes what Trump told—well, shouted to—Greene that the release would do."

Dear politicians,

The problem is not that I disagree with you.

The problem is that your only job is, by definition, to protect the common good. But big corporations managed to brainwash you into thinking that there’s no such thing as the common good.

You are not yet on the level we can disagree with. You are not even on a level we can discuss with. You are a child playing the "elect me game" to distract our attention.

And it works.

That makes me sad…

Tech billionaires are hoarding computer parts, and it goes way beyond gaming GPUs. This video looks at how AI demand, chip shortages, and corporate stockpiling are shifting power over who gets access to compute at all.

Less convenience, more control.

I think one of the wildest parts of the Epstein Files fiasco to me is billionaires are so different that they talk about the darkest most blackmailable secrets of the worlds elite in gmail when I am miserably embarrassed Google is retaining my everyday online cosplay purchase history to train AI.

Look, the social isolation that Covid-cautious folks experience is a direct result of everyone in their lives behaving like total shitting assholes. It’s not irrational fear of a virus that, in its six years of circulation so far, has already done massive short-term damage to human lives and the economy. It is the bullying and dismissive attitudes from loved ones and colleagues acting like belligerent drunkards during a worldwide crisis.

"The Grand AI Disconnect"

> AI is running only slightly ahead of child molesters in the public imagination.

I'm sure it'll be fine and there's no chance that the public will turn on everything related to tech and software once the house of cards tumbles down. Great industry to be associated with, etc. etc.

Worth noting that the biggest buyers of AI tech will be genocidal militaries and surveillance states.

I wonder how much of the "bubble" not popping (yet) is due to the belief that states and police forces have tons of money to pour into this space and will gladly do it.

"Yesterday, President Trump met with Benjamin Netanyahu and openly endorsed the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza. He called it “voluntary” even as Israel enforces a medical siege, blocks food and fuel, and leaves children dying of hypothermia in flooded tents.

“More than half of Gaza will leave if given the opportunity,” Trump claimed, suggesting Palestinians would choose to abandon their homeland for “a better climate.” He praised Israel for “living up to the [ceasefire] plan 100 percent” even as authorities have documented 969 Israeli violations over 80 days, including 418 Palestinians killed and 1,141 wounded since the so-called “ceasefire” began.

Mainstream media has largely ignored this monumental moment: a US president openly supporting ethnic cleansing while Israel weaponizes humanitarian deprivation to force migration."

@hacks4pancakesLesley Carhart :unverified: I was told once from a Director when being promoted to Manager that if I think people higher up the ladder get more mature then Ill be surprised that the opposite is true.

Never forgot that lesson and it's been mostly true from what I've seen. Executives drunk emailing, C-Suite sending dumb images.

IT sees it but can't do nothing about what their bosses are doing. It's like our government. Ruled by their wealthy bosses. Banks, Big Tech, private contractors.

@baldurBaldur Bjarnason I don't think the tech dork/tech worker class has ever before had their heads this far up their asses. And I don't mean executives. I mean just the ordinary workers who are deluded by their managers' insistence that "everyone is doing it" when it's really just their own bubble and everyone outside hates it and hates them for believing it.

I feel like the power of a network during a job search is higher than ever.

"Do you want to do spend weeks hiring people that could be a weak AI interface? Do you want to maybe hire a North Korean Operative routing through a laptop farm in Virginia? Or do you want to hire Jimmothy who used to work with Timbo at place?"

I don't think this is a good situation. But I think it may be the situation.
