rant about AI
I cannot describe just how much this AI nonsense is affecting my mental health. Things really took a turn when a coworker sent me a page of Copilot text instead of discussing a software library with me. I don't just want the bubble to burst, I want the technology to die. Completely. Back to before we ever invented it. I don't want to be forced to use it. I don't want to see anyone using it.
But I don't feel I'm actually able to push back on AI use at work because I'm burnt out and can't actually create much output. My coworkers use Copilot and can create much more code that does technically work, even if I find the process dubious. I'm overwhelmed at work. They're making us do too much. I don't have a leg to stand on to fight anything.
Also please do not argue with me about terminology I do not fucking care.

lWhat actually happened to it? It looked promising as an alternative to Instagram. Especially since Instagram pivoted away to a completely different product.
I am always amused by the people who still cling to Twitter and Bluesky. They like to claim that the Fediverse is not user friendly.
And maybe it could be a little easier to use. I don't have any issues with it, but I am a technically minded person who has been here a good long while.
But I think those people are missing the bigger picture. The benefit of the Fediverse is that it isn't actively user hostile. The Fediverse isn't being flooded by ads, misinformation, AI slop, and general hostility. And it certainly isn't subject to mass data mining efforts by the powers that be.
This isn't to say we don't have our own collection of assholes.
The choices people make often bewilder me. Many would rather use the slightly easier tool, despite the fact that it lies to them, makes them angry, and harvests their every action for analysis and marketing efforts.

Now those gpg.fail people made me find similar vulns elsewhere (console control character injection). By "elsewhere" I mean... my own code.
Opinions wanted: should "input can inject console output with ansi and control chars" always be considered a vuln/CVE?
(I'll fix it in any case, I'm just wondering if I should do all the "security release/advisory/request CVE/..." stuff.)

WebUIがしっかりしているサービスですべての機能を使うにはWebUIが最適です。アプリ化して使うこともできます。
独自の機能追加・変更が行わることが多いMastodonやMisskeyでは、全てのサーバ毎の差異に対しクライアントアプリでは対応できません。
しかし、WebUIの他にクライアントアプリも用意しておいて、どちらでもアクセスできるようにしておいてください。
WebUIに不具合が発生したり、再ログインを求められてパスワードがわからない、以前のメールアドレスが失われてメールが受け取れない、など、困った状況になることは度々あります。
そんなとき、クライアントアプリがあればそのまま利用を継続できますし、自分のアカウントでログインした状態を維持できるので、そこから管理者に連絡を取ることが出来ます。
サーバの運営者は、本人からの問い合わせだとわかっていればいろいろと便宜を図れるのですが、本人確認しにくい連絡を受け取った場合、まず本人確認からしなければならず、確認できず対応できない、というケースも出てきます。そんなとき、ログインしている状態のクライアントがあると非常に役立ちます。
