I wish we had spent the last 26 years teaching people that the reason the 2000 bug didn't destroy a significant amount of our infrastructure is because *we caught it* and *spent thousands of hours fixing it* BEFORE the year 2000

Because within that little perplexion - people thinking the problem was a hoax because it was fixed before it destroyed shit - is an encapsulation of the current era of Western politics, including COVID mitigation, lesser evil politics, fascism, and crime rate hyperbole

Since Plex Media Server - as of today - still has a security vulnerability that has not been fixed, I have decided to set up GeoIP blocking in my OPNsense Firewall and restrict access to my Plex server in HAProxy to a few whitelisted IPs.

The Plex server is running in a Jail on ZFS with all the media mounted as read only (mounted via nullfs). Together with the network changes, I hope I will be spared any further surprises...

Stupid shit that aligns with our biases going viral is definitely not something the fediverse is immune to. Threads about this story *did* have the occasional critical reader questioning it, but 99% of the responses were jumping head-first into the rage bait. (And yes, free-lancer exploitation platforms need to go away—but giving up on truth isn't going to accomplish that.)

First sunrise for 2026 this morning .. started with storms rolling across the Illawararra most of the evening .. including this one that I caught the tail end of at Cowries, Shellharbour. Olympus OM-1 w M.Zuiko 12-40/2.8 Pro ISO200 f/11 17mm 30s Single frame raw developed in DxO PhotoLab 9.3, colour graded in Nik 8 Color Efex and finished off back in PhotoLab.

現金がないから開発も工場のライン替えも遅れていくするとロードマップがズレ込んでいや〜な空気が蔓延する
そうなると一気に売り抜けるから中古が溢れる、開発に回せないから他社OEMを茶濁しで出す、わかる人にはわかってより売れなくなる

그 자서전의 임베딩을 컴퓨터가 아닌 손으로 직접 계산해봐라

임베딩을 손으로 한땀한땀 계산하는 경험은 흔치 않아 그것만으로도 대업적이 될 수 있다.

자서전의 내용이 솔직하다면 계산된 수치를 컴퓨터에 넣어서 그 회장과 비슷한 캐릭터를 복제할 수도 있다.

언젠간 이걸 기억해두었다가 써먹어라
