미국은 아무리봐도 국방부가 핵심이고 나머진 그냥 국방부와 사회를 최소한으로 돌리기 위한 부대시설에 가까운것 같음 (..) 근데 진짜 국방부 산하 시설이나 직원들 보면 다르긴하더라 저렇게 돈을 많이 부으니까 잘되긴하는구나 싶었고 (눈물)

사람들 가끔 밈이 아니라 진심으로 LG가 스마트폰 만들면 잘 만들 거라고 기대하는 사람들이 있어서 복잡한 기분이 들었던 적이 있었다. 예전에는 사람들이 LG제품을 잘 만들지만 마케팅 못하는 포지션으로 여겼던 것도 그렇고 그 당시 제품이 얼마나 엉망이었는지는 이미 추억 속으로 같이 사라졌겠지…

아무리봐도 미국정부는 결국 빚 못갚고 파산하거나 돈찍어서 막거나 이번에 따갚되를 하려는것 같은데 진짜 3번은 예전에 나찌 독일이 하던 테크인데 미국이 하는것을 보고... 완전 경악함; 아마 조만간 남미의 다른나라나 이란이 뒤지지 않을까 예상이 되네... 미국은 어찌저찌 살아도 다른나라는 뒤진다는 이야기 (눈물)

question- I'm trying to split a string taken in from a file into two integers. str.split() is obvious for the splitting, but would give strings.

I could break things down step by step, but I was hoping for a simple one liner with str.split() that would get me a 2-tuple or two element list of integers.

Follow + Hide Boosts is seriously one of the best low-key features of Mastodon. I use it all the time. It's wonderful.

So if you follow me or want to follow me but really don't want to see my boosts because I boost a lot? PLEASE USE IT I WILL NOT BE OFFENDED IT IS A GOOD FEATURE. IT IS SO GOOD.

Attached: 1 image I'm seeing a lot of concern over heavy news today and boosts. So I want to call your attention to a useful, but perhaps little-known Mastodon feature: If you want to follow an account on Mastodon, but you don't like the posts that they boost from others, you can hide these from an option on their profile (in the web UI) without having to unfollow them. There are many strongly held opinions on the "correct" use of CW and what ought to be boosted, so this can be a useful way to cope.

Fascinating. I found a bug in the panel driver algorithm of my monitor (!)

A certain glitch pattern makes it smear horizontally. But then a white dot on black grid pattern cancels it out. Even just one or two rows of it. ??????

I have 3 similar monitors (27" LG IPS 4K) and it only happens on the oldest one (mirrored HDMI feed to all 3). I tried changing the settings in the OSD menu but nothing made a difference.

I think what's going on is there's some kind of optimization (power saving??) where by default it uses some kind of drive mode that isn't suitable for certain pixel patterns (high horizontal frequency?). And then it detects that pattern in the image to switch to a different drive mode. But the glitch image does not trigger the heuristic, perhaps due to its alternating colors, so it can't display it properly. Maybe the heuristic only considers luminance instead of R,G,B individually???

If I just show the white dot pattern without the glitch image, I still see a subtle change in color for the whole screen when it appears (only needs one or two rows of pixels, but there's a large minimum width, 100px or so), so there's definitely a global mode change it triggers...
