If I may have one suggestion, use other forms of proof.
As the Proton repo story goes:
- repo had the Cursor rules file,
- there were two forks with that file,
- the original repo deleted that file along with history,
- the forks contained that file,
- I've commented that under that post (or David's toot, IDR),
- some time later the forks replicated those deletions.
As I would like to avoid slop coders to get away quietly.

December 16 I bought a 512Gb SATAIII SSD thinking to myself: "Ok, I probably don't need it right now, but I know it will get only more expensive with all this AI hysteria. I don't know if I'll be able to buy it in the future". $43 is a bit much for a 512Gb if you ask me, but hey, it's manageable.
Today is January 8 and this same SSD now costs $125 in the same shop.
All this is sadly wrong.

There is a vague comment from renchap about (a one time?) fetching of likes with posts, but that would not be enough. I can say that, empirically, Mastodon (4.6.x) does NOT maintain a synchronized Like count. I see differing numbers on mastodon.social and remote instances. Masto dev in GH issue: "This is by design on a federated network, and is _a hard problem to solve_." 💯

You are correct that Mastodon's updated like counts are still not perfect; I think you should report that to the Mastodon dev team. There are actually some pretty good mechanisms for keeping collections in sync within ActivityPub, using the `Add` and `Remove` activities.

Today was the first bike commute of the year, a leisurely one on a grey day (where by 'leisurely' I mean that I mostly stayed under 20 km/h). I almost made it the first bike commute of the year in sandals, but I decided to save that for tomorrow, when it will be up to 10C instead of this morning's 1C.
(It will also probably be raining, but that's what I have waterproof shoe covers for.)

I've been saying for a while that our inability to measure or value these models' lack of a viewpoint/theory-of-own-mind/rich internal goal and value structure will be the shoals a lot of the more "creative" outputs break on.
