One of the ways I'm dealing with AI slop at work is that when I'm giving feedback on the work I'm making sure to never assign the responsibility of the bad code to the AI. I'm directly saying that "this change that YOU made needs to be corrected". I'm always assigning the output of the AI to the person who put me in the position of reviewing the work. It is their responsibility to read the code that they're trying to review, they are responsible for 100% of the code, so they also get 100% of the blame when it's bad. If a change is confusing or nonsensical I'll ask "why did YOU make this change?". I'll never ask why an AI made a change, that we cannot know. All we can know is why someone thought it was acceptable to ship garbage, and we can assign them the responsibility for the garbage that they're willing to ship

RE: mastodon.social/@benroyce/1158

this by Leah McElrath:
fed.brid.gy/r/https://bsky.app

confirmed my tingly senses:

beautiful women smoking cigarettes became THE THING in 1920s , especially after 1927 when talkies were invented. the technology was patented. talkies needed to be subsidized, so they became defacto ads for the gringolarchy; producing “the white gaze”.

these pics from scream white gaze.

REMEMBER: the want and . images like these are grooming y’all for an invasion.

When you've made modifications to a file in vi(1) and then find that
you can't write it, type ``<ESC>!rm -f %'' then ``:w!'' to force the
write

This won't work if you don't have write permissions to the directory
and probably won't be suitable if you're editing through a symbolic link.

If you have sudo(8) installed and permissions to use it, type
``<ESC>w ! sudo tee %'' to force a write.

I've been very unimpressed with @indivisibleteamIndivisible's local chapters.

For a start there's multiple groups overlapping my area, then they're facebook groups - which is just gross, then to join you have to answer a purity quiz, then no-one bothers to accept you (or you failed the test), so you do it again, and this time manage to join the group… then the group gets deleted.

I mean… i want to do something to help and stay aware of what's happening so i can protest.

But this is not the way surely

Ein Internetfreund hat immer „Viva Plüsch“ statt „Viva Plus“ gesagt und gerade finde ich das dann doch den besseren Namen für einen Musiksender, warum besitze ich eigentlich keinen Musiksender?

I've built something useable. Maybe you need that, too.

Clients with moonlight-qt
hypervisor with libegl and GPU
VMS with GPU in proxmox and sunshine streaming server

Now you can play your games running only on linux on OpenBSD. This also works good over the internet/VPN.
The actual intention was building remote desktop capable vms, because 3d Desktops (GNOME), high Display resolution, modern browsers and spice protocol dont give a smooth experience these days. This also works now.

is at 99% native performance. The GPU is shareable to many VMS.
Can't wait to see how amdgpu native driver context passthrough is coming out when it's available.

ChatGPT: The real risk

Not “the fediverse dies,” but:

It becomes permanently small and underfunded

Or captured by a few large hosts if communities stop caring.

My blunt verdict

❌ Not a mainstream social network

✅ A long-term, boring, necessary piece of the internet

✅ Already past the point of “experiment”

⚠️ Success will look underwhelming if you expect hype

If you’re building for values, resilience, public good, or decades-long timelines — it’s worth it.

If you’re chasing growth charts or creator riches — wrong tool.

today's unsolicited business opportunity: "we're blending real-life interactions with Web3 by minting NFTs from real meetings."

You have innovated an entirely new way to make meetings miserable, may the gods have no mercy on your soul
