this is something i'd love to know best practice for as well. i feel like querying your own index is more atproto-ish than hitting bsky api. one thing i'm not sure about is why you need to be logged in. i think "hide reply for everyone" state should be respected even without being logged in

I joined #mastodon last week, on a whim, with no idea what to expect

Minutes later, I was welcomed by @dillyd which has never happened on any other platform and was a wonderful introduction. So I posted a couple pictures of my #cats, and found, to my surprise, people reacting and interacting

Maybe it's because I'm not fighting an algorithm, or maybe I just found a place where folks truly appreciate cats. Either way, I'm very happy to be here, and I hope you're prepared for more cat pictures
