I’m re-watching the original “Tron” probably for the first time since it came out in 1982. So much rotoscoping.
The “bad guy” in the film is a big piece of software that can talk. It is going across networks and vacuuming up every bit of code and data in the world, making itself (it claims) more intelligent, and resulting in all the programmers getting fired.
That seemed kinda silly at the time.

Debating with some friends as to if their mother needs a 2024 M4 MacBook Pro with 16gb or 32gb. Their use case? Work email, social media, accounts for their small business.
This person will likely never use 90% of the power of this machine. They are not like us with 99 tabs open at once. They likely will never install an app besides maybe their accounting package and even that's probably web based now.
The idea that this machine might only last them 5 years because of OS updates is ludicrous.
