Did the typical Wikipedia editor expect that their contributions would go to the betterment of humanity, or to make a slopware vendor richer? Can't have it both ways.

Also, taking on Microsoft and Facebook as *customers* is significantly worse than taking them on as *donors*. When I noted that I thought PSF taking money from Anthropic was bad, this is worse — this has strings, exactly the kind of strings that weren't attached in the PSF case.

One of the many, many, many horrible things about what ICE is doing is that now any group of white men in tactical gear with an SUV can attack, beat up, and kidnap any random person — and nobody will stop them, because who knows, they •might• be ICE, and you can’t obstruct federal agents, now, can you?? pdx.social/@portlandmercury/11

AI 업계 자금 조달 조건이 나빠지고 있는데, 차입/투자로 투자금 마련해야 하고 비싸고 물량 부족한 엔비디아 프로세서에 의존하는 오픈AI의 미래가 밝지 않죠. 엔비디아는 살리고 싶어할텐데 나머지 모두가 그러지 않을 거라.;

anyway you asked. this isn't really fleshed out and is very engineering brained. i'm not sure you can actually make something interesting with this idea since you can't fit much on the screen. re: don't like where it's going, i mean as a joke, but in the end i realized i'm just reinventing tweets

One LLM use case I really don't buy is shopping for you. Platforms like Amazon thrive on the dopamine loop: browsing, adding stuff to your cart, hitting checkout.

Giving that dopamine hit to a bot instead of people? Yeah, I don't think so.

Add yours with the hashtags:

idk if something comes out of that but it seems cool to be able to embed one block into another as a live thing. so that if the inner's author changes it, the outer one reflects the change then it's like QT but ever-evolving, you're delegating a piece of the screen to someone else.

Project Iceworm

The Army also imagined hundreds of miles of rail lines buried inside Greenland’s ice sheet. On Project Iceworm’s tracks, atomic-powered trains would move nuclear-tipped missiles in snow tunnels between hidden launch stations – a shell game covering an area about the size of Alabama.

In the end, Project Iceworm never got beyond a 1,300-foot (400-meter) tunnel the Army excavated at Camp Century.

A U.S. Army truck with railroad wheels sits on a 1,300-foot-long track beneath the snow at Camp Century, Greenland. This is the closest the military got to realizing Project Iceworm. Robert W. Gerdel Papers, The Ohio State University

The soft snow and ice, constantly moving, buckled that track as the tunnel walls closed in. In the early 1960s, first the White House, and then NATO, rejected Project Iceworm.
