"One of the first posts I saw this morning on social media was about a well-documented instance where a Minnesota family’s six children were hospitalized after their minivan filled with smoke and tear gas fired by federal agents. Below the news report, someone had dismissed it in the comments: 'I don’t believe it.' That was it. No explanation, nothing that cast doubt on the reporting. Just a rejection."

"In her essay, Truth and Politics, Hannah Arendt wrote, 'The result of a consistent and total substitution of lies for factual truth is not that the lie will now be accepted as truth and truth be defamed as a lie, but that the sense by which we take our bearings in the real world—and the category of truth versus falsehood is among the mental means to this end—is being destroyed.'”

This is so niche and yet so relevant to my interests: "Kip is an experimental programming language that combines Turkish grammar rules with a type system. Case endings, vowel harmony, and other Turkish morphological features are an integral part of Kip's type-checking process."

has started generating product listings for companies that don't sell on Amazon, without their permission or knowledge: modernretail.co/technology/bra "Buy For Me" links activate an agent that attempts to buy the product through the retailer's actual storefront. The listings are AI generated and error-prone. Some allow customers to place orders for items that are no longer available. Companies are having to assure their suppliers that they haven't violated contractual agreements against selling on Amazon.
