When you made it on fedi (as a dev), it's your duty to use your following to shine the light on the next generation.

Well, some of us understand that.

Despite the fact that Pixelfed and Vernissage are competitors, on the fediverse, that doesn't really matter.

I'm glad Vernissage exists, and I feel the duty to mention it and other projects that don't have as much attention as mine.

So I did. We need to build more bridges, we're stronger together ❤️

I would love to understand what is going on inside IDNIC, The IRR (outside of the APNIC hosted endpoints) hasn't worked for nearly a entire year:

$ curl ftp://irr-mirror.idnic.net/
-rw-r--r-- 1 0 0 4 Jan 30 2025 IDNIC.CURRENTSERIAL
-rw-r--r-- 1 0 0 757397 Jan 30 2025 idnic.db.gz

$ curl ftp://irr.idnic.net/
-rw-r--r-- 1 0 0 4 Jan 30 2025 IDNIC.CURRENTSERIAL
-rw-r--r-- 1 0 0 757397 Jan 30 2025 idnic.db.gz

and their RPKI repo has AAAA records, but the v6 addresses don't work. this may seem harmless because things will eventually fall back to the A/IPv4 record, but that doesn't actually happen in NAT64 environments...

I tried emailing them about this and have never got a response (even trying to go via APNIC to see if they had any better contacts). For a NIC for a country with a population that is reasonably comparable to the United States this is an impressive level of abandonment to infrastructure.

You wouldn't host your community in a casino.

Addictive algorithms, amplified hateful content, doomscrolling. It's time to call social media what it is: dangerous.

As a society, we need to work harder to detangle ourselves from these places and the behaviour they encourage.

How are you creating distance between yourself and harmful social media?

A blurred image of casino counters. Over the image is the copy: "Harmful. Addictive. Dangerous."

Make a plan. Ask a question. Make a skill. The Claude Code Trifecta.

In general, to get the best output, making a plan is always a good start. Tell it that you're going to make a plan. Tell Claude everything you know off the top of your head and everything you want done as well. That's usually enough to get started.

When it makes a plan, and it adds something surprising, ask a question.
When it starts using tools that you don't understand, ask a question.
When you're confused, ask a question.

🙋 Ladies, gents, and dear non-binary pals: I could really use some work. Here's what I do best:

- Workshops: entertaining deep dives into JS, TS, web components, frontend performance, general vanilla webdev
- Development: performance-oriented vanilla frontends & refactoring of impenetrable legacy dumpster fires (esp. React, CSS)
- DevRel: yapping & writing about anything related to web frontends
- General coaching & code review for frontend technologies
