Watching a video today on AI brain rot really helped cement for me what it is...a steady drop in practiced skills we take for granted. If you don't occasionally write emails, you get worse at it. if you don't do deep reading for yourself, you get worse at it. If you don't keep drawing or coding or composing, you get worse at them. Then the day comes when you need the skill, or something related to the skill, but you're too rusty to be effective. And critical thinking? Oh, that's a skill.

We've known about Debug-USB for a while [1] and suspected that the new "dockchannel UART" ends up there somehow. Turns out, at least macOS 26 just comes with a driver for this: After switching the port to the correct mode [2] /dev/cu.kis-100000-ch-0,1,2 and 3 appear and the first one indeed is the other end of that new UART!
Now we just need to sniff USB and actually implement the protocol and then we get a very cool low-level UART without any additional hardware since we can enter this mode directly on the device from m1n1!

Attached: 1 image Yesterday the air was so polluted in Berlin (Germany) that I had to wear a mask when being outside. Today again is air quality is still between poor and very poor depending where you are in the city. However, the city is not taking any measures such as slower driving speeds or traffic restrictions. Also no warnings on the civil protection apps such as Nina or WarnWetter (which usually inform of pollution events such as fumes due to fires). Take care everyone, it seems we're on our own >___<

I'm an old Mac-head at heart, and I've been using Macs since the mid 1990s (the first Mac I used was an LC II with System 7.1 installed on it). I don't tend to think that the computing experience was better in the olden days — sure, there's a thing to be said about the simplicity of older software, but most of my fondness for those days is nostalgia. An exception to that, however, is Apple's Aperture.

이게 caps lock과 한/영 전환이 같은 키라서 생긴 문제라고 들었습니다. 짧게 누르면 한/영 전환이고 길게 누르면 대소문자 전환인데 ‘혹시 길게 누를 수도 있으므로‘ 그걸 기다리는 대기 시간이 발생한다는 거에요. 정말로 다른 문자를 입력할 일이 없는 서양인이 만든, 심하게 비유하자면 카카오톡이 숏폼과 오픈채팅방을 같은 탭에 넣어놓은 급의 짓인 거죠.

AI가 암호화 알고리즘(주로, 블록 암호)을 사람의 개입 없이는 못짜는 문제를 여러 채널을 통해 공유했는데, 외국의 한 분이 연락을 해오셨다.

이 분 역시 같은 시도를 했고 같은 결과를 얻으셨다고 함.

그나마, DeepSeek가 알고리즘 1종에 대해 성공했다고 하는걸 보니 뭔가 발전이 있기는 있었나보다.

결론적으로는 AI가 암호화 알고리즘을 제대로 못짠다는 문제는 변하지 않았기 때문에, 기회가 되면 더 파봐야겠다.

current status: finding bugs through:

- generating two HTML trees (libFuzzer)
- parsing w/html5ever
- diffing w/hotmeal+cinereus
- sending via roam to Chrome
- applying sending back detailed traces of patch application

found two legitimate adoption agency bugs so far! (the others were my fault).
