We started having wifi issues at home started last week after a power outage.
I called the internet provider for support. They said our modem is too old, so they sent us a new one.
Got the new modem. But wifi is still bad.
Not only that, this new modem is too new that even their own network management app couldn't recognize the model.
💀
Today I got on the call with them for 1h38m. Their "fix" is to upsell and make me subscribe for more services for better wifi range. 😡

Pax says a good wash up before breakfast helps keep a girl beautiful. And daily routine sometimes helps, a little, to make us feel a bit better.😊

Good morning, afternoon or evening to you. May your Sunday be better than you expect. May kindness touch your life and enable you to find peace. Please stay safe.💖

Goodbye to the idea that solar panels “die” after 25 years. A new study says the warranty does not mark the end, and performance can last for decades. Arrays built in the late 1980s still produced more than 80% of their original power. The long-term economics look better than many people believe. bocvip.com/1170237/goodbye-to-

When the government does exactly the same thing seventeen days later despite the global outcry

When they immediately label the victim an assassin

When they laud the actual killers as courageous victims

When they make claims that are obviously, clearly, and undisputably contradicted by video evidence

When they obstruct anybody but themselves from investigating the killing

When they have already stated their conclusions about the event without investigation

They're endorsing state murder.

Peter Oborne, _Complicit: Britain's Role in the Destruction of Gaza_ (OR Books, 2025)

orbooks.com/catalog/complicit/

• 360 pages
• Paperback ISBN 9781682194263
• E-book ISBN 9781682194522

>> In a gripping narrative informed by original reporting, Peter Oborne tells how Britain’s Conservative and Labour parties converged to back Israel’s criminal assault—in the process occupying disturbing common ground with the far right.

>> Rather than challenge this political cartel, British media colluded in its misrepresentations… as British authorities helped Israel set as well as international law aflame, almost everything the public was told about this momentous conflagration was untrue…

This afternoon, I took advantage of the rain to tidy up and clean my desk, as well as part of the cabinet to my right, which houses the switch and the Raspberry Pi 4 (powered by FreeBSD) that I use for various services.

I came across my old laptop again: a 2019 16" MacBook Pro, the last Intel model. I think it was one of the worst devices I’ve ever owned: sluggish, fans always loud, and the case 'polished' down quickly just from my hands. I used it for about a year, then passed it to my wife when I got the M1 Pro MBP - which I’m still using - in early 2022. By comparison, the Apple Silicon model feels brand new, even after four years of fairly intense use.

My wife had to stop using the 'old' one because the battery, despite having very few charge cycles, is practically dead. It doesn’t hold a charge, but that wouldn’t even be the biggest issue. The real trouble is that without a functional battery, it has become incredibly slow, with the fans constantly blasting, making it unusable. I tried turning it on again, but it even struggles to launch the macOS installer. I’m stuck: replacing the battery would cost 289 euros (from what I’ve read, the entire top case needs to be replaced), but I hate to leave it like this, as the hardware and screen still have a lot to offer.

I’ve thought about selling it as-is, but I think it would be difficult - an inexperienced buyer wouldn't understand that the slowness is caused specifically by the battery issue.

Any advice?
