Good morning from #FOSDEM!

Yesterday was pure magic: I loved every single presentation in the Social Web devroom, with devs and Fediverse champions sharing their inspiring work.

I didn’t post anything because I was so absorbed in all the talks (plus @liaizonwakest ⁂ and @SaschaSascha Foerster did a fantastic job chronicling the event).

I can’t stop thinking about one of @benpateBen Pate 🤘🏻’s closing slides:

“Every single thing you do to improve the Fediverse is a win for humanity”

United States finalises new rules to fast-track seabed mining permits

Under the changes, companies will face fewer hurdles, with the number of required environmental assessments and public consultation periods cut in half.

So, pretty gross scraping going on by nodebb.org.

They’re scraping some content from here, and posting it on their website as if it were posts by users there.

Ick.

I link here to “my” user profile on their site, which is just a rehash of my profile here, and it has 8 of my posts. Not many, but I find this highly distasteful.

You can try to see if your “user” profile is there, but I’m not sure if it pulls it across upon the URL being requested, or only if it’s already scraped your account here, so beware.

Maybe block first then check (and please let me know if you find it has perhaps previously found your account).

I can see one of @ApplesauceFluxes' boosts of another account has made it over there, too. So it’s not just your own posts it might be scraping!

In fact, I can see whole conversations there!

Looks like most of the scraping in relation to my posts/replies/boosts has happened over the last month, and is certainly *not* comprehensive in that timeframe.

I’m going to block the relevant domain (community.nodebb.org) here, and report them to the admin of my alt account asking they do the same.

Hat tip to @vga256 for bringing this to my attention.

Spread the word, I’m seeing many instances’ users over there, and likely none (or very, *very* few) have any idea it’s going on.

여기까지 한 뒤 재부팅하면 설정 앱에서 엣지를 지울 수 있습니다. 마지막으로 경고창이 하나 나올 텐데 그냥 무시해도 됩니다.

이제 메모장에 IntegratedServicesRegionPolicySet.json을 끌어놓으면 진짜로 수정이 가능합니다. 아래의 세 가지 항목을 Ctrl+F로 찾아서 disabled를 지우고 enabled로 바꿔 주세요. 따옴표를 포함해서 이외에 다른 항목은 절대 건드리지 마세요. * Edge is uninstallable. * User can disable web search. * Third party search providers show in search. Ctrl+S도 잊지 마세요.

메모장을 우클릭해서 "🛡️관리자 권한으로" 실행합니다. 아까 말씀드렸듯이 보안상의 이유입니다.

아직 창을 닫지 마시고 쓰기 권한까지 부여해야 됩니다. Administrators를 선택하고 아래쪽의 편집 버튼을 눌러서 모든 권한에 체크해 주세요.

🛡️변경 버튼을 누르고 administrators를 입력한 뒤 확인을 누릅니다. 본인 계정을 입력하면 조금 더 편해질 수도 있지만 보안상의 이유로 하지 말아 주세요.

우클릭해서 속성 창을 연 뒤 보안 탭에서 맨 아래에 보이는 고급 버튼을 누릅니다. 그러면 이 창이 나올 텐데 소유자가 Administrators가 아니라 TrustedInstaller로 나올 겁니다. 내가 어드민인데 파일을 못 건드리는 상황이라서 소유자를 바꿔줘야 됩니다...

파일 탐색기로 C:\Windows\System32에 들어가서 IntegratedServicesRegionPolicySet.json을 찾습니다. 당연히(ㅋㅋ) 일반적인 방법으로는 수정하지 못하기 때문에 이제부터 온갖 묘기를 부려야 합니다.

RP) 저걸 보고 마침 생각나서 엣지를 지우는 방법을 알아왔습니다. 타래에 한국어로 설명을 썼지만 동영상을 직접 보셔도 됩니다. (3:00~8:00) 유럽에서는 규제 때문에 엣지를 지울 수 있는데 OS에 깊숙이 숨어있는 그 설정을 찾아서 켜는 방법입니다. 원래 이것보다 "그나마" 덜 복잡한 방법이 있었는데 막혔습니다...... 시스템 설정을 건드리는 건 위험한 작업이기 때문에 꼭 타래 전체를 숙지해 주시고 쓰여 있는 그대로 따라해 주세요. 🧵
