I loved working full-time on @vite.dev@bsky.brid.gy hired by StackBlitz. High praise to companies hiring OSS devs! But as I did when starting @vitest.dev@bsky.brid.gy with @antfu.me@bsky.brid.gyAnthony Fu, for this new community adventure, as project steward of @npmx.dev@bsky.brid.gy together with @danielroe.dev@bsky.brid.gydaniel roe 🇺🇦, I'll be going independent. Here we go again ❤️

How Western officials, media coverage pushed to discredit Gaza death toll

In the first 18 days of Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, the Israeli military killed more than 7,000 Palestinians, including nearly 3,000 children, despite growing calls from around the world for a ceasefire.

But in the United States, Israel’s top ally, then-President Joe Biden cast doubt over the suffering and death count of Palestinians, as provided by the Ministry of Health in Gaza.

One reason why La Terminal doesn’t encourage tmux for session preservation or mosh is their low fidelity terminal rendering, so I use a tiny “keep the session open” instead. It is a small binary I bundle with LaTerminal.

To get the best of both worlds, I cooked my own “tmux” built on top of headless SwiftTerm, so I get high fidelity rendering - but deploying it seems like an uphill battle:

Die CDU und ihre Umfeldorganisationen haben eine Variation des "Flood the zone with shit" für sich entdeckt: Jeden Tag eine neue Zumutung gegen Arme, Kranke und Arbeitslose fordern. Das Prinzip heißt Erschöpfung: Fordere so viel Sozialabbau, dass die Hälfte davon am Ende vernünftig klingt.

Anthropic’s new paper _opens_ with a completely unsupported and barely defined chunk of politically convenient investor-fluffing that isn’t even the subject of the damn paper, and all I can do is imagine @grimalkinaCat Hicks snarling that it’s whiskey and adrenochrome o’clock

I've been working full-time on @npmx.dev@bsky.brid.gy for the last week, yet I haven't managed to stay in the top contributors list in our repo. And I couldn't be more excited about it. I've never had this many public and private conversations. So much ahead to foster a great community together. I love it ❤️

“If you read the stories that comprise human history for the past, say, two thousand years, nothing reads as surprising. Rooting your expectations in the decade of the 1990s is a bit like watching a single down of a football game and expecting to be able to predict the final score. It doesn’t work and it makes you look like an idiot.”

We have a unique opportunity with npmx. We're building something very special together. I want to give myself the chance to focus on helping steward the project. I'm going to be working as an independent open source developer this year. Support my work and help me focus on npmx long-term 🙏

🦀 I've improved the implementation behind all the string formatting macros in Rust: println!(), panic!(), format!(), write!(), log::info!(), and so on. (That is, everything based on format_args!().) They will compile a bit faster, use a bit less memory while compiling, result in smaller binaries, and produce more efficient code! 🎉

'Hello world' compiles 3% faster and a few bigger projects like Ripgrep and Cargo compile 1.5% to 2% faster. And those binaries are roughly 2% smaller. 🎊

This change will be available in Rust Nightly tomorrow, and should ship as part of Rust 1.93.0 in January.

The source of the standard Rust Hello World program with the generated assembly before and after the change.

The before version has 11 instructions and stores 56 bytes on the stack. The after version has 3 instructions and stores no data on the stack.
