the aggravating thing about firefox isn't it being less successful or less financially viable or less technically advanced compared to its competitors or whatever. its the weird, unforced errors. inexplicable, unless google handed a couple of firefox devs a bitcoin or two and a copy of the CIA's Simple Sabotage Field Manual (1944)

I really love Mastodon, but it’s practically impossible to have a representation of a small business here. You get piled with “this has to be opensource!!1!”, “why do you charge money for this?” and so on. I and others tried so many times to basically move Instagram accounts here, but the amount of hate here for small businesses just trying to do their thing is just too much.

Ah, OpenBSD.

@bsdBSD Security Advisories posts that there's an httpd(8) errata.

$ doas syspatch
$ doas rcctl restart httpd

Total effort? about 40 seconds of my life total across three machines. I might not have even had to restart httpd, but it cost nigh-nothing to do so.

I wish all updates were that boring/straightforward.

p.s. For anyone wondering what the post language setting is even for, it allows people to easily filter out posts in languages they don't speak, and also provides a "translate" button below your post if people don't speak your language.

However, this system relies on people using the correct language settings for their posts, so that the system knows which language each post uses.

p.p.s. Using the correct post language setting is also important for accessibility:

The language setting of a post determines how a screen reader pronounces it when read out loud.

If you have the wrong language setting on your post, this can make it difficult for blind and visually impaired people to understand it because their screen reader software may not prounce it correctly.
