예전 어디서 들은 괴담인데 (내가 실제 목격하지는 못해서 애써 괴담으로 취급하려고 한다) 회사 문화 국제화를 위해 사내 이메일은 무조건 영어로만 쓰라고 했더니, 영어를 쓰긴 하는데 수신자 이름에 영어로 직함존칭을 붙이고 있다는 이야기를 들었다. 홍길동 부장이면 "Dear Gildong," 대신 "Dear Hong BJN," (BuJangNim)으로 쓰는 식. 그외 JMN ISN GJN 등등등... 언어적으로 "틀린" 것은 아닐 것이다. 영어에도 "H.E." 같은 표현은 있으니까. 단지 언어를 바꾼다고 문화가 바뀔 리는 없다는 거다.

Greenland experienced its warmest January on record this year, as a rate of warming four times faster than the global average redraws the outlook for sectors from fishing to mining.
