I dream of being able to store my online social presence, identity, and history just as — an (organized) set of static files.

A set that I control.

3/ If you cannot get (most) regular people to write JSON-LD, JSON, or even HTML — But, you might be able to get them (regular people) to write something similar to Markdown and INI — Then, are there ways you could (explicitly or implicitly) encode JSON-LD type information, such as ActivityPub, into a Markdown-like to INI-like file — in a way where they (regular people) would likely include it? A thing I hate is when doctors go out of their way to prescribe vitamins or "natural" cures instead of real drugs because they have some sort of idea in their mind it's less risky, but then it turns out some vitamins and some natural cures can be fucking nasty for your body they just happen to be plant derived (and also anything coded as a "vitamin"/"supplement" has lower legal safety standards than a "real drug")

Follow application actor has a way to get public activities

To get content for new instances we are working on an instance level follow. For this we will use the application actor (see https://socialhub.activitypub.rocks/t/fep-2677-identifying-the-application-actor/3646 ). In Funkwhale it’s called \service actor\. To know who is interested in public activities we will use the a Follow between the application actors.

  1. Opt out/disable : If an instance do not want to send all public activities to remote, the Follow is not approved/delete.
  2. If a user want to limit his activities to the instance we have an instance privacy level for activities.

I just wanted to share this in case someone have experience with this approach.

While reporting this, I had something happen that's never happened. A comms rep for one of the co's disputed my reporting and said what I was telling them was untrue because it was not in Grok, xAI's chatbot. I was looking directly at the files. And this person was using AI to challenge the truth.

Another factor for North America (and maybe Europe as well) is that cycling safety laws and regulations are extremely selectively enforced. In practice they become tools for the police to harass cyclists they don't like, and often this will be poorer or minority cyclists (who face lots of obstacles as it is).

(This also holds true for requirements for bike lights.)

So my toot about helmet laws increasing heart disease has got a few replies by people wondering wtf. The way it works is that mandatory helmet laws reduce cycling, fewer people cycling results in an increase in obesity related illnesses like heart disease and diabetes. Catherine (Whitequark)’s recent observations on poorly-engineered firmware reminded me of a few mistakes I’ve seen in vendors’ CPUs; some unimportant and others surprisingly bad.
