Thesis:

Bitcoin will not die from technology or regulation, but from the fact that AI consumes the same fuel while promising a higher return.

Or, more polemically:

Bitcoin burns electricity to cosplay as money.

AI burns electricity to generate power.

Hei! 👋🏻 I know a few of my followers are from or have lived in Norway 🇳🇴 - seeking your advice!

Curious if anyone has advice on how to find a new fastlege (primary care doctor). The one I was assigned upon moving here is very much not a fit. 😢 I'm looking at reviews on legelisten.no but curious if there are other things I should be looking at/for!

While reporting this, I had something happen that's never happened. A comms rep for one of the co's disputed my reporting and said what I was telling them was untrue because it was not in Grok, xAI's chatbot. I was looking directly at the files. And this person was using AI to challenge the truth.

It’s really surprising to me that the hasn’t agreed on a standardized way to open cross-instance objects and instead relies on links that open in the browser.

I found this proposal and what’s thinking… codeberg.org/fediverse/fep/src Which one would be your favorite?

(If anyone has updates on the progress, feel free to point me in the right direction)

⏳ With less than two weeks remaining, we want to share a reminder that the @rustconf 2026 CFP closes on February 16.

As the host of , we see the program as a reflection of the community itself — the real challenges, ideas, and experiences people are working through with Rust today.

If you have a clear, well-considered perspective you think should be part of that conversation, we encourage you to submit a proposal! bit.ly/3M0bhl5

Hey LINUX USERS. There is a LINUX USER who got stranded on Bluesky instead of here somehow and— you'll be shocked to hear this I'm sure— she's having problems with Pipewire. She's tried a couple different configurations, and all have the same problem: Either audio is choppy, or audio works a bit then after a reboot suddenly *becomes* choppy.

Her full setup:

docs.google.com/document/d/1cb

Do you want to help? If so reply to her either here:

Or to this post and I'll relay it.

I am very close to unsubscribing from a podcast that I have listened to for 20 years, because the hosts will not shut the fuck up about “AI”.

I appreciate that LLM-based tech is in the news and they cover it (often with a lot of knowledge, because they both understand it fairly well), but there’s so much rampant speculation about it solving all problems, and I’m tired of it.

I don’t want to. I like(d) this podcast.

Pretty fucking close though.

지연 때문에 항공사 측에서 경유지 바우처(식권) 지원해 준다길래 푸트코트 왔더니 폭력적인 비주얼의 음식이 있어서 시켜봄 근데 비주얼만큼 가격도 폭력적이라 바우처 뗐는데도 18달러 더 나감 tq;

What I listened to today: "BASTL🏰CITADEL|#4 - Crushed strings ( 🧙‍♂️FX WIZARD, nRings, uO_C, little nerd )", boop _e_

One of my fav things in modern music tech is Bastl's nano-modular "Kastle"—recently rebooted as the "Kastle 2/Citadel" series, available as either a eurorack module or the Kastle patchwire format & reprogrammable as any of 3 different devices. Here, the FX WIZARD mode glitches the venerable "Rings" Karplus-Strong module. Have I lost you? It's crunchy sounds

What I listened to today: "Secuencia Techno con Syntakt y Microfreak", RM1_music

Super satisfying techno set on two desktop devices. Hard driving thumps, surreal whooshing. At some point I have to face the fact I never actually learned the names of EDM subgenres I just like, listen to everything, and that makes writing these descriptions hard some days. Someone who did the research could probably identify the 3 microgenres here. All I can say is it's highly raveworthy

Found a gem for YouTube (V3 extension: addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firef) — which brings the old interface (from the start of XXI century) back. It is more clean, if it is even possible to say "clean" about YouTube interface, and also it is faster as hell than the "modern" one.

On the my box (Thinkpad X220 with i7, 16 Gb of RAM) the usual YouTube lags as hell, even while I'm scrolling. The old interface — works almost instantly, lol.

YouTube with old interface from 2013 (provided by V3 extension). There is a main page on the screenshot.YouTube with old interface from 2013 (provided by V3 extension). There is a page with running video on the screenshot.
