Thesis:

Bitcoin will not die from technology or regulation, but from the fact that AI consumes the same fuel while promising a higher return.

Or, more polemically:

Bitcoin burns electricity to cosplay as money.

AI burns electricity to generate power.

Hei! 👋🏻 I know a few of my followers are from or have lived in Norway 🇳🇴 - seeking your advice!

Curious if anyone has advice on how to find a new fastlege (primary care doctor). The one I was assigned upon moving here is very much not a fit. 😢 I'm looking at reviews on legelisten.no but curious if there are other things I should be looking at/for!

While reporting this, I had something happen that's never happened. A comms rep for one of the co's disputed my reporting and said what I was telling them was untrue because it was not in Grok, xAI's chatbot. I was looking directly at the files. And this person was using AI to challenge the truth.

It’s really surprising to me that the hasn’t agreed on a standardized way to open cross-instance objects and instead relies on links that open in the browser.

I found this proposal and what’s thinking… codeberg.org/fediverse/fep/src Which one would be your favorite?

(If anyone has updates on the progress, feel free to point me in the right direction)

⏳ With less than two weeks remaining, we want to share a reminder that the @rustconf 2026 CFP closes on February 16.

As the host of , we see the program as a reflection of the community itself — the real challenges, ideas, and experiences people are working through with Rust today.

If you have a clear, well-considered perspective you think should be part of that conversation, we encourage you to submit a proposal! bit.ly/3M0bhl5

Hey LINUX USERS. There is a LINUX USER who got stranded on Bluesky instead of here somehow and— you'll be shocked to hear this I'm sure— she's having problems with Pipewire. She's tried a couple different configurations, and all have the same problem: Either audio is choppy, or audio works a bit then after a reboot suddenly *becomes* choppy.

Her full setup:

docs.google.com/document/d/1cb

Do you want to help? If so reply to her either here:

Or to this post and I'll relay it.

I am very close to unsubscribing from a podcast that I have listened to for 20 years, because the hosts will not shut the fuck up about “AI”.

I appreciate that LLM-based tech is in the news and they cover it (often with a lot of knowledge, because they both understand it fairly well), but there’s so much rampant speculation about it solving all problems, and I’m tired of it.

I don’t want to. I like(d) this podcast.

Pretty fucking close though.
