投票所の近くで自民の萩生田光一が演説やってて、投票所に行くための道路が交通整理でふさがっており、親戚が期日前投票いけなかった(私は車に乗ってて目の前で見た)

This story, by Pooja Salhotra and Jazmine Ulloa, has multiple examples of:
- person with legal status going about their business gets kidnapped off the streets by ICE in Minnesota
- ICE has no interest in IDs proving legal status, and ships the person off to a detention center in El Paso, Texas
- days or weeks later, that person is released from the detention center onto the streets of El Paso with no money and has to figure out their own way home to Minnesota.

In one case ICE never returned the identification and immigration documents they took.

If isn't a fungi, and it's not a plant: What on earth is it?

It would be very strange to have a living thing from a previously unknown branch of life AND it's this huge giant towering structure.

What if it was the first thing to crack the code for growing large? A runaway.

WHAT IF ITS ALIENS?
(someone calm me down please)

OK what if it's Siphonophore-like? Or something lichen like? eg not just one organism?

Photos of slices of the fossils of the strange not-a-fungus (probably) called Prototaxites Frankly it looks very much like a fungi to me... but I know very little about these things. It is full of vertical holes and radial fanning tissue.

I felt so seen reading @pluralisticCory Doctorow post on the US immigration. I moved here on a student visa, then OPT, H1B, then Green card. I am white man from an EU country, but even my path along this track has been tricky to navigate. It feels like the processes intentionally want you to fail. E.g. I keep a spreadsheet of every single entry/exit of US and every country visited.

"Just immigrate the right way" is the same as saying "just walk this tightrope over a chasm"

Last night I lay awake in my bed, unable to sleep, perhaps because of the large amount of coffee I had foolishly drunk during the day. Tossing and turning didn't help much, as I grew more and more aware of the sounds the ceiling fan made. With some quiet grumbling, I decided to make a trip to the washroom.

In the washroom, while I did my business, I noticed that the window was open and bright light was pouring in from these neon signs outside. I felt deeply annoyed, and then I woke up with a jerk in my bed.

I had actually fallen asleep while waiting for the sleep to come, and my sleeplessness had transitioned so smoothly from my wakefulness to my dream that I never noticed. I was still annoyed at the brightly lit signs, but realising that I was able to sleep earlier brought me calm, and I fell asleep once again.

:blobangrypuff: 머리 깎을 때 미용사 분이 “무슨 일 하시나요?“라고 물어볼 때 솔직히 싫습니다. 공감하시는 분 계신가요?

:blobcat_fu_smile2: 미용사입니다.

라는 말을 듣고 난 뒤
일단은 아무 말 없이 끝냈습니다.
