Battery usage of apps is weird. I get practically no XMPP messages and yet it uses more power than Threema and I use Threema for most of friends and family.

@djlinkDavid Amador I learned this through bitter experience. 6 months in a warm room was enough to lose everything.

TIL that SSDs can lose data if left unplugged for long periods of time (only required to hold data up to 1 year), unlike HDDs which as long as the material holds it can take years.

I am happy to announce that I've changed my mind, and will be adopting GotoSocial interactionPolicy in Pixelfed and Loops.

While Pixelfed comment controls predate GtS, they provide a much better solution compared to our current boolean nature.

I look forward to working with @dumpsterqueertobi (they/them) is writing bugs and the GotoSocial team on compatibility and implementation, to bring better safety features and tools to Pixelfed and Loops.

Someone reported that they thought the Loops webUI should redirect users to their own server if they are not logged-in and try to like a post on another Loops server.

I was going to build a fancy modal to redirect them to their own server, using FediDB data, but then I saw a thread about web intents and it got me thinking.

Machines can "write good enough code" under certain conditions (it is called program synthesis, also there is generation of code by model transformation*), but "LLMs" (alone) can't.
