The Intercept reported that the US Department of Defense signed, last September and without public announcement, a $210 million contract to purchase advanced cluster shells from Tomer, an Israeli state-owned company.
According to the report, the details of the deal appeared in a federal government procurement database, marking the largest contract the Department of Defense has awarded to an Israeli company for weapons purchases in about 18 years.
The information indicates that the contract calls for the production of 155 millimeter cluster munitions over a period of three years as part of updating the ammunition stockpile.

팔레스타인 난민 문제 발생은 전적으로 이스라엘의 잘못이며, 이스라엘에게 도덕적 책임뿐 아니라 법적 책임도 있다. 법적 함의는 이러하다. 비인간적인 범죄에 비록 법적 소멸 시효가 있다고 해도, 그토록 긴 시간이 지나는 동안 그 행위 자체는 여전히 아무도 법의 심판을 받지 않은 범죄라는 점이다. 도덕적 함의는 유대 국가가 죄악에서 탄생했고(물론 많은 국가가 그렇다), 그 죄, 범죄를 결코 인정하지 않았다는 점이다. 더 나쁜 점은 이스라엘의 특정 집단이 이를 인정했지만, 동시에 과거를 돌이켜 볼 때나 미래의 팔레스타인인 정책을 펼칠 때는 자신들의 범죄를 완전히 정당화한다는 사실이다. 그 범죄는 오늘날에도 여전히 저질러지고 있다.
이스라엘 정치 엘리트들은 이 모든 의미를 완전히 무시했다. 대신 1948년 사건에서 매우 다른 교훈을 얻었다. 국가가 인구의 절반을 추방하고, 마을을 파괴해도, 처벌받지 않는다는 점이다.
