「Krita 6.0」と「Krita 5.3」はそれぞれ「Qt 6」と「Qt 5」をベースとしており、それ以外は共通だという。つまりコードベースを「Qt 6」でビルドすれば「Krita 6.0」に、「Qt 5」でビルドすれば「Krita 5.3」になる。「Krita 6.0」では、Wayland環境のLinux版でカラーマネジメントがサポートされている点を除けば、両者に機能面の違いはない。
