This may be one of those weird Friday evening thoughts but… it’s just so weird.
There is so much AWESOME tech in my life. The fabulous BSD operating systems and ZFS. All these new indie devices and software to teach retrocomputers new tricks. Even Linux, despite the best efforts of some to turn it into Windows, is a breath of fresh air after dealing with other things all day. Music. Art. Indie games. Weird new gadgets. Homelabbing. Building things. IT MAKES ME HAPPY.
Then on the other hand there’s all the guff. The faux excitement, the blinkers, the disregard of externalities and consequences, the VC pumping, the abjection of responsibility, trust, and care. The feeling that people I once respected are peddling nonsense again. The cynical exploitation. The unreserved BULLSHIT of it all, and how when we’re onto the next fad the previous one will be forgotten, and the people who peddled it forgiven. The fact I find myself muttering to whatever machine I’m using to “be less shit”.
Depending on the time and my mood, I see one of these sides as the real world, and the other as the aberration. It flips multiple times a day. Strap a turbine to me, I’m spinning so much.
I dunno.

08 베이징 올림픽 때 일본에 있었다. 새삼 한국 경기 찾아보기 어렵구나 싶더라. 당연하지만 일본이니까 일본 선수 경기만 중계하고 보도했다. 신선한 충격이었다. 그래선지 올림픽 중계 관련해선 이때 경험이 먼저 생각난다.
올림픽에선 정말 다양한 경기가 여럿 진행되는데 우리는 정말 극히 일부만 보고 있다. 우리나라 선수가 나오지 않아도, 인기 없는 생소한 종목이어도, 생중계를 걱정없이 볼 수 있는 방법이 있으면 좋겠다.
그러나 독점중계가 되면 이렇듯 한국선수 경기도 제대로 중계가 안 된다. 다시 후퇴해서 여기서부터 논하게 됐다.

In other words, continuing investigation into the episode revealed that the FBI agent’s testimony was wrong - either because the agent erred or lied or because whoever supplied him or her with information erred or lied. 5/
It isn’t unheard of for a prosecutor to file a motion to dismiss a criminal case, but it isn’t common. And for the Trump DoJ to do so in an ICE-related one is extremely unusual. Whatever evidence the DoJ found that contradicted the FBI agent’s testimony to the court must have been utterly damning. 6/
