Know the fundamentals and:
- enjoy your craft
- spend less money
- don't fear about when the AI providers alter their deals
You'd think that countries already grappling with the terrible impact of having outsourced their manufacturing - and how that is crippling their economy and national security now - might recognise a new outsourcing of fundamental capability. But no.
I'll re-iterate what I said yesterday:
- Once you outsource your manufacturing to other countries, you no longer retain the skills and workforce to spin it back up.
- Once you're reliant on outsourced work, the people you outsourced to have the power and get to dictate terms.
AI is *exactly* the same thing.
Once it's been relied on long enough that there are not enough juniors with the fundamental knowledge, few to no seniors left... that's the end of your ability to not rely on AI providers.

Several people asked if the English suffix '-wise', as in 'otherwise', 'likewise' and 'weatherwise', is like Romance '-mente'.
Yes and no.
'-Wise' used to be a noun too, but it's not the word 'wise' ("sensible").
So unlike '-mente', it has nothing to do with the mind.
'-Wise' comes from the Old English noun 'wīse', which meant "manner, way". "In that way" was 'on þǣre wīsan', for instance.
This noun marginally survives in 'in such wise'.

well, here's the scale
to be clear what i mean is, I think one of the largest questions right now is "how do you let claude merge your code and still maintain quality?" and a lot of the stuff in here is things i guessed were true. i made those guesses from my own experiments but also extrapolating a bit for scale.
