"A group of Buddhist monks completed their 2,300-mile, 110-day Walk for Peace [Feb. 10] as they journeyed from Fort Worth, Texas, to the DC-area.

They were led by Venerable Bhikkhu Paññākāra, who walked part of the trip barefoot. They stopped in ten states—through snow and rain, often sleeping outside. They inspired millions with the message that peace is possible."

But not to the fediverse…? Oh, right ;)

(I guess the only place large enough for them to bother with would be mastodon.social and maybe not even.)

On this day in 1990, the Voyager 1 space probe took a photo of our planet from approximately 6 billion kilometers (3.7 billion miles) away.

"Commissioned by NASA and resulting from the advocacy of astronomer and author Carl Sagan, the photograph was interpreted in Sagan's 1994 book, Pale Blue Dot, as representing humanity's minuscule and ephemeral place amidst the cosmos."

A grainy, low resolution image of space, with faint bright-colored streaks. An arrow points to a small dot, our very own planet Earth.

Today at just a perfectly normal evening meal with my family (just me, partner, two kids) I started finding myself struggling to deal with the cutlery and crockery sounds. It happens to me every now and then.

It's well depicted in this clip from Love and Mercy, where at a dinner with lots of people, the sounds grow ever louder and Brian Wilson is increasingly disturbed and upset by it, until he leaps up with his hands over his ears and shouts at them all to stop: youtu.be/KQX8ooOWFDY
