ETTR(Exposing To The Right)를 하니까 색 정보가 제대로 처리되며 채도가 자동 알고리즘으로도 풍부하게 나온다.

I wonder what it means for the future that automated moderation, the online panopticon & Silicon Valley puritanism has shaped a generation of kids who are now afraid to type “sex”, “killed”, “death” or “rape” online without substituting numbers for letters or resorting to language like “unalive”

It's so frustrating dealing with LLM customer support. You take the time to craft and repeat the question, and it keeps ignoring it, saying the same banalities over and over, occasionally answering a question that you *didn't* ask. CloudFlare should be ashamed of themselves, giving human names to bots and making us waste time with dozens of worthless interactions. I feel like playing chess with a pigeon.

Of course, I am big fan of video service, federated with us. But the trick of the TikTok was really the addictive algorithm. You can't expect Fediverse users to watch thousands of cool, but otherwise average videos, served more or less randomly.

I feel somehow funny, like we are trying to provide substitution therapy or so. Or kind of harm-reduction community center.

There are various reasons, why people choose to be online. One of them is having lot of time to waste, but the addiction, the "cheap dopamine" is one of reasons. The cheap dopamine without advertising breaks is interesting option, of course. Buy what TikTok really did was to encourage people to produce viral content. Some users were paid to create content and the professionally made content was what was consumed by passive users.

I would still like to see more content available in the Fediverse. But we need to understand the motivation of the crowds. Some of them like to be "where everybody is", but some people preferred place where there are less people, for various reasons. Some people like the idea of huge audience and chance to go viral. Some others were seeking more stable community.

Maybe, we would need some kind of "configurable algorithm", where we could choose from various filters . The emoji feedback would probably help. It all comes down to categorizing content, and while wisely choosing people to follow is one way to categorize content, but not really effective.

Perhaps some kind of algorithm, not optimized for showing ads, but simply to switch between different views quickly.

Eg. "popular among people, who I follow" vs. "popular among people, who follow me" - this is very basic socal-cognitive approach.

Here's a thread of cool things I found exploring the Developer Tools!

First, a really convenient thing: You can "pop out" the Toolbox into a separate window!

To do this, open the Toolbox (using F12), click on the ellipsis menu on the right, and select "Separate Window".

I like this much better than the default "docked" modes, especially when using a scrolling window manager like !

Screenshot of Firefox' DevTools toolbox. I show the described menu.

Just a reminder for all MastoCanucks that the 1st Sunday of every month is Digital Independence Day. So on March 1st we'll celebrate by sharing what U.S. based tech we've reduced or turned off in our everyday lives. Make a list of the apps you're using from big tech and research open source or less invasive alternatives. Remember to share and brag about your success using the hashtag.
