Maybe a more compact way of putting my ruminations on wealth from the other day, but I roughly think of wealth in four or so strata:

- Don't have enough to afford essentials
- Rents the essentials
- Owns the essentials
- Owns someone else's essentials

I think folks in that third category need, as a whole, to recognize that they have more shared political interest with the first two categories than with the fourth.

Tusky dev help needed

I'm seeing a crash reported A LOT in the Google Play console for Tusky 32.1. I have no idea how to reproduce it, but from the stacktrace it is somewhere in a timeline. Most crashes are on foldable or tablet sized devices and Android 16.
If you have seen random(?) crashes please let me know, this needs to be fixed.

Edit: The issue is identified, it happens sometimes after using "load more", I'm working on a fix

I was really glad to join @cwarzelCharlie Warzel for this discussion, because I knew we’d focus on the impacts on labor, and some of the deeper nuance that often gets buried under the noise around AI. I hope you’ll give it a listen. You might not realize how much your relatives regularly watching Fox News or reading certain newspapers are being continually told to fear trans people. Jessica Kant did an analysis of news outlets from 2023 onward, and found that Fox News not only had way more stories mentioning trans folks than "liberal" media, but even more than the LGBT media sources she analyzed: jessk.org/blog/architecture-of

Age verification is not en never was about protecting children. It's about mass surveillance.

"Once a user verifies their identity with Persona, the software performs 269 distinct verification checks and scours the internet and government sources for potential matches, such as by matching your face to politically exposed persons (PEPs), and generating risk and similarity scores for each individual. IP addresses, browser fingerprints, device fingerprints, government ID numbers, phone numbers, names, faces, and even selfie backgrounds are analyzed and retained for up to three years."

Meta Plans to Add Technology to Its Smart Glasses

“Five years ago, Facebook shut down the facial recognition system for tagging people in photos on its social network, saying it wanted to find “the right balance” for a technology that raises and legal concerns.

Now it wants to bring facial recognition back.

Meta’s internal memo said the political tumult in the United States was good timing for the feature’s release.

“We will launch during a dynamic political environment where many groups that we would expect to attack us would have their resources focused on other concerns,” according to the document from Meta’s Reality Labs, which works on hardware including smart glasses.”

I really don't know why it is I've lost motivation this badly to nerd on my own projects due to AI.

All the things I like coding on for my own purposes are things nobody would want to pay me for. Economically, all of it has been quite worthless. Likewise, I never even *wanted* to become a professional artist or musician, I just enjoyed creating things.

So it seems completely bizarre to me that I still strongly feel like AI has made it all pointless.
