Hackers' Pub is a place for software engineers to share their knowledge and experience with each other. It's also an ActivityPub-enabled social network, so you can follow your favorite hackers in the fediverse and get their latest posts in your feed.

If Loops can implement native ATProto support and maybe Nostr later, I think that would be in the best interest of the Loops community.

I'm a diehard ActivityPub fanboi, but that doesn't mean we have to limit our platforms to just ActivityPub.

Just look at WAFRN, they are proof that you can have multi-protocol support natively.

Something to consider IMO, what are your thoughts?

Yeah, I've made mistakes. Real ones. I own that.

What I also own: 8 years of open fediverse work, fully open sourcing Loops, and doing the hard work of making things right with people I hurt.

I'm embarrassed by who I was then. I'm proud of who I'm becoming.

I'm still here. Still building. Still learning.

It's worth keeping in mind that Loops is made by dansup which has also made and runs Pixelfed, FediDB, and has a history of being hostile to developers. You can see the recounting of his hostility at https://dansup-open-letter... (I'm not a signature of the open letter) boriskourt 11 minutes ago This comes up here and there to discredit the developer but having followed all the drama for many years now I just want to add that Dansup has apologized multiple times, and has been far more open about his process. His communication has also changed for the better over the last two years especially. Its not easy being human, and I think its a good sign to see that he takes this seriously.

Here we come to my new interest area.. I spent a metric ton of time advocating for and and that was initially all on a very optimistic note on how our ecosystem would mature and grow over time, fostering a healthy future for itself.

That however didn't go as planned. You might say that the entirety of the fediverse is still primarily tech-driven. Tech-first approaches that do not differ too much of the much reviled and rejected 'techbro approach'.

Sure, there are plenty discussions on whether an app feature is 'ethical' or not, with discussions on e.g. opt-in vs. opt-out. But that is again purely app-centric.

Where is the dev ecosystem headed, where should they focus, what externalities exist? Where do we want future as a whole to be? What's the vision?

And then we come to the social side of things, both in the small, but also in-the-large. Technosphere aligned and subservient to Sociosphere. That is focus of coding.social

Yesterday, had an argument with an AI booster. I'm not going to link, both because I don't want to platform that and because I don't want anyone to go harass them. But what I thought was very interesting was that I asked point-blank if there was any degree to which ethical problems with LLMs could make them not want to use AI — they told me no, there was not, and implied that they evaluated AI purely on the basis of its efficacy.
