true HOLY FUCKING SHIT moment this morning: over the holidays, my sticker guys were having a special on red octagons, so I designed and ordered 250 "Slop Sign" stickers — but while I was in China, someone stole them out of my mailbox. Bummer, I figured; they probably trashed them as worthless. anyway while walking to the subway I FOUND ONE OF MY STICKERS STUCK TO A MAILBOX! Whoever swiped my stickers is sticking them up around the neighborhood! This is the best thing that could have happened!

i've been doing a deep dive into SPI NOR flash command set and it is horrifying. i don't know how anything works. none of these devices agree with each other on anything, even devices from the same family of the same vendor with the "same" part number (but suffix J instead of suffix V or whatever)

The unadmitted reason this is happening (and the AI bubble besides): Moore's Law *has ended*. The only way for hardware sales to go in future is *down* because your next PC or Mac will work just fine until it breaks or dies of old age. So by ramping prices artificially via this RAM/SSD futures bullshit, they're keeping profits high for as long as possible.

I'm so tired of the whole " #AI has democratised #art " narrative. Cheap or even free creative tools and learning resources have existed for decades. Not wanting to become good at something is not the same as not having the resources to do it.
Speaking of resources, something AI is excelling at is increasing the price of computers by hoarding RAM and disk space, thus making things harder for less privileged creative folks. How very democratic.
