The Department of Homeland Security was caught lying Thursday about ⚠️ abandoning a blind refugee who was later found dead on the street.
The Department of Homeland Security claimed that the Tim Hortons in Buffalo
where federal agents left Nurul Amin Shah Alam,
a 56-year-old Burmese refugee who was blind and spoke no English,
was “determined to be a warm, safe location near his last known address.”
Video footage reviewed by The Washington Post, however, showed that the location had already closed, except for the drive-thru.
In video footage released by IP, Shah Alam could be seen walking past the drive-thru window,
then pacing by the locked front doors,
before he eventually wandered across the parking lot toward a Dollar Tree.
The Border Patrol agents drove away after one minute.
Shah Alam was blind and spoke no English.
He was found dead on Tuesday

好像外国人普遍启蒙Linux是Linux Mint，中国人的启蒙Linux好像却大多数是Ubuntu，在V2上，有人问Linux使用帖子，Ubuntu和Debian各自占据半壁江山，有人用Alpine还被嘲讽没有systemd残废了233，然后被嘲讽的就开始嘲讽systemd是垃圾2333，可见Arch，Gentoo，Alpine等等原教旨注意玩家还是少。
I Use Debian BTW.
是因为Ubuntu i18n做的比Mint好，Snap商店可以一键安装，软件兼容性更高，更符合中国人的软件使用习惯，商业化程度高，好像有很多公司的默认Linux是Ubuntu吗？还有Linux桌面、安装引导，Ubuntu应该算是做的比较人性化的
查了下相关资料，还有其他原因：
1. 2013年，Canonical（Ubuntu 母公司）与中国工信部（MIIT）达成协议，共同打造了 Ubuntu Kylin 作为中国操作系统的参考架构；
2. Ubuntu 官方投入了大量资源与搜狗（Sogou）、金山（WPS）合作。在很长一段时间里，搜狗输入法、WPS Office 的 Linux 版首发和适配最好的都是 Ubuntu；
3. Ubuntu本身开源，但是其母公司Canonical 的商业色彩浓厚，更倾向于通过 Snap 商店（闭源后端）来统一分发闭源软件（如微信、钉钉的 Linux 版封装）；
4. 种种原因，Ubuntu成为“默认”Linux，教程庞大挤压其他Linux教程生态，导致小白入门大概率只能选Ubuntu。
还有现在大学教学Linux一般都是Ubuntu和CentOS，网安专业会让你顺便安装Kali Linux，但是个人觉得apt系列就选Debian，Redhat系就选Rocky Linux吧。
还有刚刚开始用Debian的时候，我读作“低半”，后来看了些Youtube视频才改口成“呆扁”。

and i need some help. our lease is up at the end of march, and our medium-to-long term housing plans just fell through! on top of that, our ongoing financial support arrangement is in jeopardy and we can't afford to renew this place for a year without that financial support. so we need to fix up our current place, and find a new place to rent in the next month, and we just don't have the money to make all that happen.
here's what we need help with:
we don't know how much it's going to be altogether, but it'll definitely be at least a few thousand dollars. we hate asking for this much money on fedi but we're going to end up homeless if this situation isn't resolved properly, so we're exploring every avenue we can for help and resources.
in addition to everything else, @sativaknifething is crippled and mentally ill and needs support to get us through this, and i'm currently going through a bad-brain episode and can't give them any real support right now. any words of support, chill one-off conversations, or offers of ongoing friendship from kind strangers would mean the world to em and would really make a difference in our situation. without any support this could turn into a serious health (and housing) crisis for us.

One of the best things I did when I got to SF was open a mailbox at a local business near me. They specialize in paperwork and mail stuff. Not only does this help me with package theft (I ship all high value goods there); when I don’t have the spoons to do things like ‘find the right stamps and box or envelope’, I pay them extra to do it for me. Outsourcing ‘how to get something somewhere’ has saved me so much.
Because they’re also a notary, they know a lot about the local paperwork. I almost threw out a doc that looked like junk to me but she knew that it was an important doc from just seeing the back of it.
Also, there are cats.
