북미대륙, 지금의 미국에 처음 정착한 기독교도는 청교도였다. 이들은 칼뱅파였고, 칼뱅은 모든게 신에 의해 예정되어 있다고 보았다. 구원은 물론 심판도 말이다. 그러한 연유로 청교도들은 기독교 분파 중에서도 굉장히 금욕적인 태도를 취하며 기독교적으로 경건한 삶을 지향했다. 이는 구원과 심판, 그 모든 것이 내 의지가 아닌 신의 의지에 달려있기 때문이다. 그런데 지금의 미국 복음주의 개신기독교에서는 그런 모습을 찾고싶어도 찾을 수가 없다. 그들은 도대체 어디서 튀어나왔는가? 혹여 이들의 역사는 그들이 말하는 사단의 역사가 아닌가?

그런데 길어야 그 시간의 1/10정도의 역사를 가지는 미국 복음주의 개신기독교는 그것을 사건이 아닌 사명으로 해석하고 있는 것이다. 이건 마치 "예수가 재림할 때까지 기다리는 건 조금 수동적인것 같아. 내가 예수를 재림시킨다." 같다. 기독교 역사 밖에서 봐도, 기독교 역사 안에서 봐도 이해가 안된다.
미국 복음주의 개신기독교는 기독교 역사상 독보적인 놈들이긴 하다. 기독교가 시한부 종말론을 기반으로 하는 종교고, 그 끝에 요한의 묵시록(계시록)이라는 에픽 이벤트가 남아있음이 사실이기는 한데 지금것 기독교 역사에 이것을 이벤트가 아닌 퀘스트로 해석한 놈들은 없었다. 지난 2천년 조금 넘는 시간동안, 기독교에게 있어 묵시의 시간은 언제 올지 모르니 항상 자신의 몸을 깨끗히 하고 기다려야 하는, 그러나 반드시 일어날 사건이었다.

I've thought for a long time or would be cool to have some sort of fediverse IDP so you can have one account for all the things. Like login with Google but not Google... dunno how to fund it (it would not be that cheap, you would need security appropriate to the kind of target that it could become). Lots of stuff around trust as well, but that isn't insurmountable.
