I feel like I've been waiting half a year for someone to write this essay. This makes more sense out of everything I've been reading, thinking, and feeling for the past few months than just about anything else I've read.

The Structure of Engineering Revolutions

TL;DR: The resistance to AI-assisted software development among experienced software engineers isn't random or capricious–it follows the pattern Thomas Kuhn identified in scientific revolutions sixty years ago. What we're witnessing isn't a tooling debate. It's a paradigm shift, complete with anomaly denial, incommensurable worldviews, and paradigm defence mechanisms that have played out very similarly in every intellectual revolution Kuhn observed. Understanding this pattern won't make the transition painless, but it might make it possible.

@nolanNolan Lawson @johnallsopp what’s the logical fallacy again where you only argue half the argument so it makes you look good?

This excellent essay is missing so many criticisms that people have with the current crop of GenAI and narrowly focusses on just the tech gains to fit a compelling narrative, it’s astounding.

“Yes many people suffered under the industrial revolution” is not an absolution to do it again, it is an imperative to never do it again.

イスラームに神と人との間を取り継ぐ「聖職者」はおらず、イランの指導者は「法学者」なのだが、いろんなメディアが聖職者聖職者言うてて、なんというか、こんなもんだよなとおもてる。

プロテスタントにも聖職者はいない。その点イスラームと同じ。

안드로이드 기기는 볼륨 -와 전원 버튼을 길게 누르면 강제 종료 혹은 재시작이 된다. (몇몇 기기는 볼륨 +와 전원버튼이더라)

이는 기기가 정상작동하는 중에도, 프리징이 걸려 멈춰있을때도 작동한다. 즉, 화면이 안들어오거나 멈췄을 때 제일 먼저 시도해봐야하는 프로세스다.

이걸 모르는 사람은 "여러분 저 x됐어요-- 화면이 안켜져요--" 하면서 서비스센터로 달려가고 기사님이 이 수법으로 단박에 켜시더라
