One thought that I can’t seem to shake lately is that there’s an absence of “accounting for evil”.

There’s a lot of discussion around what people propose we need to do in order to address $CRISIS (take your pick—there’s plenty of them to go around). These proposals usually incude reasonable and altogether positive steps that involve people working together.

And then I remember that there’s a small percentage of the population who classify as either sociopaths or psychopaths. And, somehow, those people end up in positions of power—or control vast sums of wealth, and thus influence those in power.

It makes me wonder how the proposals would change if they accounted for the fact that evil people exist, and that evil people will act (or are acting) to counter their proposal(s).

Firstly please excuse the mess, I’m in the middle of a diy project in the greenhouse. But our new ‘pet’ pheasant has decided that in amongst the debris is a good place for a dust bath.

So as not to disturb her, my husband had to pass me my drill through the window.

Charged the car for a bit today while the balcony solar provided full tilt 800W. ~300W of that goes into the house, leaving 500W for the car which at the lowest setting draws 1500W. That’s 1/3 off for free, thank you sun!

Meanwhile, the solar thermics setup has heated up 200L of 🚿water from 25°C to 45°C and put some extra warm water into the house heating circuit, so we can leave the main heating off for each sunny day, despite freezing temperatures at night.

☀️😘

Several days of apparently hostile rumor-mongering and disinformation claim Iran-opposition exile parties in Kurdistan Region of Iraq launched offensive at home in Iran-held part of Kurdistan,
among those some mentioned in article,
'However, a representative of the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK) told ANF that these claims do not reflect reality. The Kurdistan Democratic Party–Iran (PDKI) and Komala also rejected the reports of such military activities […]. According to the PJAK representative, there are also no indications of movements by forces from South Kurdistan (Kurdistan Region of Iraq) that could be involved in such an operation.

A denial also came from the government of the Kurdistan Region. […] “Not a single Iraqi Kurd has crossed the border. This is completely baseless.”'
english.anf-news.com/kurdistan

Latest today leading rep of KDPI/PDKI, Hassan Sharafi, told Public Service radio of Sweden (SR) (my translation) "No Kurdish forces have passed the border. This is a war between between Iran, USA and Israel".
Deputy Sec General of Komala party said "We are ready for the people, but only if a popular uprising breaks out inside the country".
They reject claims of getting military support from USA for ground offensive, but would welcome political support from West, said SR's reporter.

Boo, yet more jeans worn out between the legs before I've even had them a year.

I even bought two pairs the same size to wear interchangeably, and tried the Scotchgard trick around the crotch area (but I only did it once because it's stinky, and I worried about putting forever chemicals near my nethers).

I'm stuck in a loop where maybe I'm just buying jeans that are too cheap, but also I don't want to spend €€€ on a fancier brand only to have the same thing happen.

@dansup I think it comes down to priorities. You can't do it all. You will have to choose now.

Pixelfed, Loops, Sup ... you cannot be all the things to all the people; choose one, put a stake in the ground and stick to it.

If you ever find yourself in a position to expand, do it mindfully and be cognizant of how expansion will affect longevity of the projects.

IMHO

it's hilarious how a very small number of people have been in my mentions trying to argue that actually vibecoding is the future of programming, the next iteration of abstraction...
bruh, you only think that because you don't give a shit. you're not doing coding at a higher level of abstraction, that would require abstraction to even occur. you're asking a fancy markov chain to output slop in the shape of a program and calling it work.
and it's only even taken on because so many programmers don't give a shit about producing code with 6 finger hands and almost-legible letters. it compiles and doesn't immediately crash, don't it?
