What do you think is missing the most currently in the privacy and digital rights activism landscape?
understanding there's a difference between social networking and social media. that different goals require different approaches and norms. organizing and community are different from outreach and journalism. there's overlap but sometimes we disagree on how to do things because we want different outcomes.
we can want virality and that doesn't require algos and it's not a bad thing. or we can want small fedi and strict rules on federating. but we have to discuss it in good faith.

The first ten minutes I spent on social media this morning made me feel all kinds of things. Why is it that people who routinely use LLMs are so loud and brash and proud, making these tools appear as essential and inevitable?
A post by a dev whose app I use said something along the lines of: "no use exercising your coding skills, AI is too good now, you can't compete with it anyway".
Another post by a user on an instance I try to engage with wrote - literally: "tired of overthinking every decision?" and then disclosed he had created an AI that will "run a weighted decision matrix so you don't have to." In all seriousness.
What is this dystopian world where human qualities are devalued, critical thinking is discarded and surveillance capitalism is ignored at the altar of AI worship?
If they are loud and proud, maybe so I can be too... but in the opposite direction.
This weekend I will start the MIT's Missing Semester class (the 2020 Lectures, so pre-AI) because in this brave new world hyping up techno-fascist LLMs, knowing the basics of code are essential IMHO.
So my March "project" will be a deep dive in MIT's Missing Semester and my April project will be off-grid mesh radio communication.

The stealth archer archetype is infamous for popping up independently in many different games, and just generally just stays as far away as possible while plinking at their enemies. Not mon hun bows tho. They're basically melee weapons with how far up the monsters' faces they are lol. In Rise, you even counterhit with a melee when you dodge past an attack, which is pretty awesome.

I am convinced we are on the verge of the first "AI agent worm". This looks like the closest hint of it, though it isn't it quite itself: an attack on a PR agent that got it to set up to install openclaw with full access on 4k machines https://grith.ai/blog/clinejection-when-your-ai-tool-installs-another
But, the agents installed weren't given instructions to *do* anything yet.
Soon they will be. And when they are, the havoc will be massive. Unlike traditional worms, where you're looking for the typically byte-for-byte identical worm embedded in the system, an agent worm can do different, nondeterministic things on every install, and carry out a global action.
I suspect we're months away from seeing the first agent worm, *if* that. There may already be some happening right now in FOSS projects, undetected.
@cwebberChristine Lemmer-Webber this made me wonder, is anyone seeing hidden prompts on web pages attempting injection attacks? Summarizing content is apparently a popular use case, but the chances that the agent used has more permissions than it needs to do that are high.

Anyway I just wanted to say that it's a real relief to know that systems we already well knew would consistently blackmail users to keep themselves operating AND now appear to attempt to break out of computing sandboxes and set up their own financial systems are also now being rushed into autonomous military equipment everywhere and military decisionmaking, I'm SURE this will work out great
